I agree Hudson, unfortunately. Foster's tower would really look fantastic in the Hudson Yards & it would have been the centerpiece.

The only site that has enough square footage to replicate it in size and in height in is at the TS's Hudson Spire site with 2.8msf. Here's hoping a bank anchors there and hope they are in madly in love with Sir Norman Foster work. One can only dream.

It can be built elsewhere. The issue with the diamonds reflecting into the Memorial doesn't preclude it from rising in the Yards.

It really looks like a collapsing tower. Awful design!

The Amazon Towers in Seattle are horrible. They're short, fat boxes with ridiculous glass. This tower is a 1,320' work of art.

1340* Although It's a shame Foster's design won't become a reality, I'm looking at this whole situation as the glass is half full, and it's refreshing to see other people looking at it that way too! I completely understand peoples frustration with this project, but i believe overtime people will grow accept this tower.

Why did you reference the Amazon towers? Its all pretty subjective. I am not a big fan of the all the different combinations of glass either but their height really was not their fault as the city has ridiculous height limits in that part of the city...440'.

Because a guy from Seattke described 2 WTC as a disaster, which it's not. For his easy reference, I provided an example of a true disaster: the short, fat Amazon boxes. They look like the boxes they ship their junk in.

A lot of people never even scrutinized Foster's tower and are unaware of the fact that the diamonds were formed by an irregular and uneven slice at the top.

Had Foster's design been chosen, a lot of little girls on these sites would have thrown a fit when it was actually completed.

Foster's design was great, but I prefer BIG's.

Okay, cheerleader, I'll bite. Pray tell, what makes this structure A) a work of art, and B) a better fit than the Foster design? I'm genuinely curious as to the architectural aesthete inside you that would stump so for this piece.

Don't bring religion into this. It's completely unnecessary to express your views on an architectural forum, just as the guy you quoted was also wrong in bringing the argument.

(BOnT)

So is the tower's height 1,340'? Or is that guy Michael, trolling like a real bitch.

No, it's ~1,340. Could be less could be more.

It's a testament to NYC to have a major, global corporation build its World HQ in the capital of the world, NYC.

Also, for those not in the know, News Corp is WAY more than Fox News. Moreover, Fox News is the voice of conservatives, whether you ladies like it or not.

Anyway, this is a gorgeous tower that suits the tenant's needs. Foster's tower suits a bank, and quite possibly, a bank will build it in the Yards.

Bring it on!

Because apparently the lack of open mindedness for close mindedness is close minded...
Sounds a lot like the rehtoric conservatives always use saying that the lack of tolerance" tolerant liberals" have for racism, bigotry, sexism, intolerance, and etc is intolerance and that "tolerant liberals" are somehow hypocrites for not tolerating right wing bullshit.

And if News Corp really felt the design was better suited for a bank, why didn't they just move over to another site, like the Hudson Yards, instead of completely overhauling the project for their own needs, taking advantage of a Silverstein that's desperate for tenants.

This is probably nothing more than a race for the bragging rights of having an HQ at the new WTC.

Foster's design was great, but I prefer BIG's.

You think people haven't noticed this feature over the past 9 years?

It's part of the charm of the design, It's four irregular diamonds, instead of simply being a flat clean cut at the top.

Is it suppose to be a bad thing?!

Agreed

This girl is a troll

Grasping at straws
Like seriously, bashing a building in another member's city (he saw -Corey-'s info says he's from Seattle) is a legitimate arguement?

I am just being rational. Anyone who lives in 21st century and believes that global warming is not real, that islam=evil, that homosexuality is "against Jesus" etc is a close-minded idiot. And as I believe, Fox News is promoting all of the above.

Back to the tower, it's fat, clumsy and awkward. It lookes like it was built in 60s and renovated in 90s. It's not gorgeous. Cheers, my troll.
