I believe they are just meant as supports for the bathtub walls.

Thanks. As I said before, the rock I most associate with Manhattan is "Manhattan Mica Schist" which are the big boulders you see in Central Park and also the stone walls and gates of Central Park. We have the same kind of rock here in Philadelphia, but we call it "Wissahickon Mica Schist" (Wissahickon an ancient Lenni Lenape Indian name for Philly and also the name of a streams that flows through Fairmount Park).

If the world's tallest building can stand in sand bet there are no problems for a supertall in New York !

Why should they make one in Dubai? Dubai has enough landmarks already. This building is perfect for New York.

Looks like the concrete formworks have finally arrived. The first basement floor should be starting very soon.

I thought that the basement floors would start on 3WTC first before 2WTC, as that building is the least likely not to be a stump, since there is possible tennants for that amount of office space in that tower. Shortly followed by the transportation HUB.

Is going to be nice when every thing on the WTC is built up to street level. After the foundation pouring and the basement level are done you'll be suprised how the rest of the structures will pick up pace and rise. Similar to what we've seen on 1WTC.

Wow. It actually seems that concrete is being poured into the basement right now, with the truck being on Vesey Street. Didn't think it would happen that fast...

WTC3 doesn't look bad either, and one of the supercolumn foundations looks quite complete. With good weather, October might become one of the most interesting months on the site yet!

Janno Lieber, Silverstein’s president of WTC development, said that Tower 4 is on track for a late 2013 opening. He then explained that at 2 and 3 WTC, excavation for tower footings -- which form the very deepest structural anchors of the skyscrapers -- is nearly complete and the buildings’ cores will start to rise over the coming weeks. He said his firm intends to build each of the towers to their full heights, an effort to be aided by visible construction progress that will encourage potential tenants to sign leases.

If the tempo for this one stays the same as it was for number 4, we should be about 1 month from a visible outline in concrete, 2 months from the B4 slab and 3 months from the first core forms.
