This is true, I'm just surprised that there's not a huge punishment on Murdoch's part for breaking the contract (or maybe there is I don't know?)

Second, the construction of BIG's design will be more expensive and take more time that the original design as it involves retrofitting the foundations for the new superstructure and building some transfer levels.

However I'm not sure they can go back to F+P. If they could I hope Foster make them beg on their knee to get back in the fold - which I am sure Larry Silverstein will have no problem doing given how he bent over backwards to try to get the deal with the Murdoches. After all it's very easy to be flexible when you don't have a backbone...
Now that the Fox/News Corp deal is off the table, it only makes sense to revert back to the Foster design since the foundation is already in place and they could always tweak the floor plans and interior space to make it more attractive to media firms.

Considering that BIG's 2 WTC was designed specifically for Fox/News Corp, it's not unlikely at all that Foster's design could potentially be resurrected.

Kinda funny how you mentioned PA funding since they recently approved to subsidize part of the overall lease.

They never solidified the deal, they signed a non-binding letter of intent which is never final.

GOD right now I wish I had won the Powerball....I would anchor this thing right now.......with the ORIGINAL , GORGEOUS Foster design!!!
Seriously though, in the bigger scope of things, I think FOX not coming to the WTC is really for the best.

Not that I watch anyways.........

I don't think there was EVER an official contract....otherwise there would be harsh penalties. It was just a MOU or Letter of Intent if I understand correctly.

I actually would like to see this BIG design built at some point in time - in a location OTHER than the WTC.

I'm thinking Hudson Yards would be a better place for it

Just bring back the Old design.

The whole Fox News thing with the falling building blocks was just a nightmare. I roll my eyes every time I see that new design.

Exactly. Related should use BIG's 2WTC design for 50 HY... the project from which BIG so liberally ripped off:

This is the best news I have heard in so long. Now that Fox is out of the picture, let's finally kick BIG's ass out of the picture and bring back Foster's diamonds!! And give 3WTC its spires back!!

Agreed. To me it looks bland already. Let's get something new.

ESB is almost 90, I don't hear many saying that it is a bland design. At first the ESB was thought to be a failure, empty and not much a future in sight. I'm not saying that Foster's 2 WTC is as good a design as the ESB but I have observed that architectural trends move in cycles. Soon this "dated" design may be considered a classic of it's time.
I would like to see the complex completed, with the original designs.
