There's a list of tenants at the bottom of this page:

I'm almost dreading the day that construction resumes here. Probably my least favorite skyscraper proposal anywhere atm.

I was just checking out a virtual tour of an office at the u/c One Manhattan West. Look at the pictures on the wall and you will see renderings of the completed WTC with FOSTERS 2 WTC. I mean seriously, this information is so conflicting. I am so anxious to finally know which design is picked (but it seems there are still no tenants in sight so I guess we'll have to wait.).

It is a little hard to tell due to the size of the image, but it is definitely not the stepped BIG design.

I think that the best design for WTC2 is a new tower exactly the same that WTC1 but whithout the antenna, the second twin towers still are possible, I think that NYC needs a new twin towers, it's my opinion.

There is no space on site for another twin of 1 WTC.....

I can't believe anyone is still on this. Because of the shape of 1WTC and the location of the 2WTC site across Greenwich St., this just fundamentally does not work...

Agreed, the tapering design just doesn't work for a twin 1 WTC.

They should have just rebuilt the original twin tower designs instead of all this 15 odd years of deciding which design to go for.

It hasn't taken 15 years to come up with a design. Competitive market in Midtown is what's the problem.

They are outdated designs that do not meet current code or demand.

They could have modernized them, (increased the floor heights, widen the windows a bit, reinforced concrete cores, etc...) but I digress. Still tons of pictures and videos of them around though so there's that.

If Foster's tower somehow makes a return it wouldn't even matter as it was just a phenomenal tower all around. The crown jewel of the complex and really the city as well.

Only on skyscrapercity the absolute icons can be called outdated and classified as 'not meeting current code or demand'. I mean of course they don't meet the criteria, nowadays everything seems to be about postmodern towers that reportedly 'respect' the past. At some point, some of you will probably realize that this city is not a theme park, where only "fairly tale" architecture passes, although by then the city may lose lots of its original and functional light, because every second proposed tower has 'arches' and stuff.

icons?...the twins were a constructional bluff. when architects imitate abstract art, it gets tricky...theyre on a better path nowadays.

I'm an Architect, I'm well aware of what I'm talking about. No tenant is going to want to lease space in the same building that has been bombed twice as well as being in one that is structurally outdated. As for the post modern tower comment, I'm just assuming you're ranting as I'm all for the different genres of Architectural styles classical or modern. Buildings are built on demand nowadays and for what the developer is willing to pay for as well as what the tenants are looking for.

Thanks for letting me know that you're an architect, now you're just much more competent than I could possibly imagine to be (neither in another parallel universe, I just can't be that constructive). Anyhow, where's the part where I say that one should reconstruct them? I can't see such part in my post. I'm glad they choose different styles and architects. But unlike others, I have lots of respect for the original icons.

For you they are certainly not 'icons', much more like ICONS (with capital letters). Now go back licking the monitor while watching 220 Central Park South, who knows maybe you'll learn something about the epitome of constructional bluff.

The Twins were like NASCAR racer Dale Earnhardt. Reviled in their lifetime. Revered in death.

How can people think that their perception is the only valid opinion and therefore should be universally accepted? You see them as reviled in their lifetime, on the opposite I see them in every second music video, or movie from the 80's, or the 90's.

Oh well, I can't compete with architects, I just don't have the expertise, nor the right to do so. Next thing I should do, as the average Joe (I am so very average indeed), is covering my eyes while walking down the street, one should not be allowed to look around, it's just not his/hers field, or domain.

The Twins were iconic. Nothing like them. Towering beasts of the skyline.

They will always be missed. But never forgotten.

In hell Bin Laden won. He wanted to take these twin symbols down. He did. Forever.

They should have been rebuilt. But greed and politics won the day. Again.

But yeh get 2WTC built. Get this shitshow over with.
