Guys, let's stop all this nonsense about 9.11 and etc. This is hardly the place for such bs theories. Talk about something that has to do with this project in particular, not some paranoia stories.

Then you have a series of conventional office floors and column-free, unbelievable views.
Do you guys think this sounds like Fosters Design or BIG's design for 2 WTC?
In the article they have a picture of a rendering for BIG, but I'm not sure if that means anything

Yeah, that's for BIG's design.

That article was disheartening to say the least but even though Silverstein may be set on BIG, nothing is getting off the ground without a tenant. Also there was a post a few months back on another forum from someone who talked to some guys at Silverstein and they said that Foster's tower is still on the table if a tenant wants it. Don't know how valid that info is though.

The base for the tower has already been built, and has been years ago, beforeBIG's design ever was created. I heard somewhere (can't remember) that the current base that has already been constructed was better fit for Foster's design. Again, I can't remember where I heard that or how reliable that is either.

Either way, I love both designs. I feel like I'm in the minority. Everyone else hates BIG and loves Foster. I'll be excited to see either one.

This entire development is a *censored* disgrace, and Silverstein and co should be ashamed. It's been almost 16 years and there's still a hole in the ground. What has been built is a quartet of bland, blue glassed towers with most of their character value-engineered out. Almost somehow emblematic of the path NYC and this country as a whole have taken in the time since 9/11.

Not forgetting once this project is finished 1WTC will have already have been eclipsed multiple times in height by newer buildings. Whilst the others won't even be in the cities top 15 tallest.

Maybe actually see the WTC in person until you judge it. The cladding on the towers look more high quality than any other glass clad towers (especially 3 and 4 WTC). Also remember the original WTC had 3 skyscrapers, this complex will have 5 (maybe even 6). I do agree the buildings were value engineered and yes that should have been prevented. However, I do not see how the Twin Towers had more character, they were even more boxy and bland than any buildings in the new complex, the only reason people liked them was their height. (I liked them as well but the architecture of the towers was really not great). Just look at the BOK tower in Oklahoma, it was modeled after the Twin Towers but people don't like or know it because it is not tall.

Does anyone know why there are so many conflicting heights for this tower? Even the Silverstein site has 2 heights:

https://www.silversteinproperties.co...d-trade-center

In the first paragraph it says it is 1340 feet tall, and if you scroll down to the specs it says 1270 feet tall. And this thread title says 1323 feet. Which one is it?

Really hoping this tower stays above 1300 feet, for the sake of restoring some of the presence the Twins had.

I think they are floating around 2 BIG designs. 1270' and 1323'. This rendering popped up awhile back. Can't remember where but i saved it.

the tower in the more widely disseminated rendering is taller.

Thanks for the info

That picture perplexes me because 3WTC isn't that tall. Looks like they rendered it when they were considering a height of 1180 for 3WTC (and with the spires cut because of BIG's 2WTC redesign).

I remember seeing a cutaway on SSP a while back that said 1,259' to the parapet. I believe that was the most recent design but who knows, they're playing around with many I suppose.

I just want this thing built. A 1,260 ish building with a massive footprint and width is still going to be an awesome presence, Although I agree, they should make this 1,362 feet just like the old South Tower.

They will have to monumentally change the foundation design. It is already built for the Foster's tower and will need a lot of rebuilding.

I really hope there's some truth to that rumor. I pray this new design never sees the light of day even though I'm pretty sure there's about a 99% chance of it going forward at this point.

At this point, I'm starting to think nothing will go through for a while... all has been quite on the frontier, unfortunately.
