There's not a city in the world that wouldn't love to have BIG's version of 2 WTC.

Then let them have it and give Foster's design back to NYC.

That's disingenuous. Any city would love to have BIG's design. NYC does not operate on its own independent standard of greatness.

Look man these towers aren't just for the companies to use them they're replacing once iconic buildings that supposed to represent a strong comeback from a tragic event that New Yorkers experienced. BIG's design isn't iconic at all and its not just my opinion .

I'd be interesting to make a poll for New Yorkers to choose on which building They'd like to rise, i am 100% certain its the Fosters.

Nothing that leans should be at the NY WTC. Bad idea.

BiG's design is nice in itself, but it doesn't come anywhere near how elegant and dramatic the ~20 storey tall diamond formation of Foster's would look on the skyline. This is such a defining spot on the lower Manhattan skyline, I hope they get it right!

From NYGuy, on SSP. No height cut, at least. Hopefully the rumored news of a tenant signing are true.

An affiliate of Silverstein Properties, Inc. ("SPI") is developing 2 World Trade Center ("2 WTC"), a 2.8 million sf office tower. Its skyline stature and address are anticipated to make this structure among the most iconic and best known buildings in the world.

At approximately 1,300 feet, the tower is planned to be almost the same height as One WTC, and it is anticipated to be the final office building built on the World Trade Center site. It will provide in-building access to 11 subway lines, 25 PATH commuter trains per hour, the new Fulton Transit Center and the iconic World Trade Center Transportation Hub, as well as below-grade parking and retail space.

Please identify a single city in the world that has skyscrapers -- from LA to Chicago to London, etc. -- that would not love to have BIG's 2 WTC.

Hopefully its deutsche bank more chance of Fosters making a comeback. Someone made a good point here a while ago that it was designed more for financial firms, and BIG was designed for media so hopefully its DB. Also the cost of money for the current foundation demolition .

I don't think so. Every such city has gone bonkers by the construction of much smaller, dull boxes.

I would honestly MUCH, much rather a smaller, dull box here than BIG's dumpster fire of a building that will desecrate the LM skyline from almost all angles.

Offsetting bigger dull boxes on top of each other does not make it better. It's abysmal. The foundation is there for the prior design. They should make a taller version of that.

I've never seen such envy. It's absurd.

The only good view IMO is from the memorial and Jersey.
