Well, I wouldn't want it to be the tallest building, but I think it would be better if it would be 415 m because the height would be reminiscent of the old tower 2 then.

I could agree with that idea, as I too think there should be another "twin" towers and 2WTC could be other building--although not necessarily a "twin".

The height is fine, there's nothing wrong with being number 2

That's what they've said. But 2WTC been U/C for a good seven months now and the first basement floor isn't even finished yet. 4WTC was well onto its second floor by then. They could still build 4 basement floors in the next 12 months. But judging by the pace of things over the last half year, it seems doubtful.

Who knows. 1WTC started ultra-slow, but once it got past the base it started growing at an average of one floor a week, so 2WTC may follow that same path.

I was also wondering about this.. I think they mixed up street level with roof level.. no matter if they build a stump or the whole building, three more years for the underground floors is impossible

I would not be surprised if this was going to happen, given the current pace of construction and what happened at 1WTC.

Lowermanhattan.info is very reliable. But completion by 2013 would mean one basement floor per year. The cost of renting two tower cranes for four years would be very wasteful. 4WTC was built to grade in twelve months. I realize there isn't any funding for 2WTC, and given the available space in all the other towers means this one isn't going to be built anytime soon. I hope the 2013 date is wrong, only time will tell.

I've only read that they will build at least to street level. That doesn't mean they will stop there. But I've never seen any article stating definitively that the podium levels will be built. 3WTC's podium will be built, regardless if Silverstein gets an anchor tenant.

Here is an article detailing the PA and Silverstein Prop.'s agreement last year.

http://www.nbcnewyork.com/around-tow...-89129162.html

Tower 2: The Tower 2 site would be built to at least street level under a plan to be jointly developed by the Port Authority and Silverstein Properties. This plan would preserve flexibility for the future development of the office tower driven by market demand.
