If you make "a decent roof", you add unnecessary costs, since you would have to remove it anyways if construction is continued later down the road. Furthermore, having them look "unfinished" and "stump-looking" (ugly) will be an incentive to restart construction as soon as possible. That is, always in case they stop in the first place, which given economic projections and real estate projections for manhattan, is unlikely.

I'm just glad to see that all four towers are technically U/C. Once they are all above ground level, it will be very interesting to see pics of "ground zero."

nt necessary, let's wait for final confirmation. also, i'm still curious about the final height though. but for now we should wait, there's no need to rush things.

Well, in between tower 1 and 2 is the temporary transit hub (entrance). The new hub will be constructed where the biggest of the red cranes is positioned right now (bottom of the picture)

The platforms will be on the left of the picture.

Hope this makes it a bit clearer..

Final confirmation from who? There's a source better than wtc.com?

CTBUH is probably the best. They often get access to copies of the architectural drawings from the designers. No site is 100% reliable though. But they're pretty close.

Yes, but it's really a matter of scale because it's quite large on the other axis.

What are the massive beams that are diagonal to the sidewalk in the last pic? Maybe pipes or some kind of supports?

Nice view from the second (west) tower crane at T2. I just noticed that the Max-ER kit on the 18000 made a perfect circle in that pic.

As spectre000 said they are temporary supports for the bathtub walls. I think they are 24 inch schedule 80 pipes.

They will be removed as the Transit Hub construction moves upward and takes there place.

(Just an afterthought, that is a brand new never used crane that Cornelle put up, in fact both are new. That is typical when one expects the cranes to be on-site, putting up a building for a year or 2.)

I wasnt aware that they still made the Link Belt TG's new.

I understand that the concrete contractor controls the cranes for the duration of the foundation, with the erector being allowed to use them to get the tower to grade (Falcon?)

Are you aware if Cornell will be erecting the tower itself or if these two towers are just being rented out?
