So it's similar to Dave Childs "designing" 1WTC. The design of 1WTC is actualy from a never built building in 1996:

[h=1]7 World Trade Center fully leased[/h]By STEVE CUOZZO

In a milestone for Downtown in the post-9/11 era, 7 World Trade Center — built by Larry Silverstein in the face of withering criticism and claims it would be a "white elephant" — is now 100 percent leased.

Financial firm MSCI, now based at 1 Chase Plaza, has leased 125,000 square feet in the tower’s top floors, sources told The Post.
The 20-year lease means that the 52-story, 1.7 million square-foot skyscraper across from the actual WTC site is now full except for a few tiny spaces almost too negligible to count.

The tower, built without any presigned tenants, opened in 2006. It gradually drew tenants paying the highest prices ever paid downtown — several above $70 a square foot. The building’s occupants include German bank WestLB and Moody’s.

So, WTC7 is fully leased, WTC1 over 50% afaik, so WTC4. This might force bigger companies to lease office space in tower 2 and 3. *fingers crossed*

Was this a serious design? And how tall should it have been?

Yup it was. It was proposed by Donald Trump as a new building for the NY stock exchange. It should have had a roof height of 546 meters / 1792 feet. Here is a height diagram of the building from SSP:

Well, it looks al lot less sofisticated then WTC1. Especially at the bottom it is bulky. Good that it has never reached production, in my opinion.

Not unless whoever buys the site decides to build it as intended, which is highly unlikely.

I do remember that rendering from many years ago. The proportions he came up with for 1WTC is far better.

I didn't design that, hehe. I agree with you about the architectural designs, though.

There are actually a lot of buildings that bear a resemblance to Tower 1. Tianjin Post-Telecom Network Control Center by C. Y. Lee & Partners; the Shenzhen World Trade Center; the North Tower; and of course the proposed NYSE Tower...

As for Tower 2, what is the "spire" going to be used for (considering Tower 1 will have one)?

I love 2WTC but the tripod spire is very ugly without glass. I think they should make floors there. With this there would be glass 'til the top. I think that would be a good place for a restaurant. Windows on the world was the highest grossing restaurant in the US so I bet it would bring Larry money if he would make a new one in 2WTC.

If they would wanted a restaurant they would build it in 1WTC where it was planned..+ That space on top of 2WTC is a little bit bigger than my room..

I think it's still enough big for a restaurant. The restaurant could be on multiple floors

Place for restaurant is prepared and waiting across the street..They won't put it there because there's not enough of interest..They can't pay for rent if people don't wanna eat..If that change, I'm sure they'll use that place prepared for that in 1WTC..

That is, if there's not the situation that the PA doesn't want a restaurant but Larry wants one

Your idea is interesting but it has several problems: there are no express elevators on Tower 2 that can take you to the rooftop of 2WTC; the area you're pointing out is pretty little and that space is already in use for mechanical stuff...
