when is the earliest that they will actually start building it? i really think that 1 WTC doesn't work without this tower... or any of the rest for that matter.

I completely agree with you. Without this tower there is a large gap between 1 and 4, even tower 3. I am so surprised this tower has no tenants. To me, it possesses the most attractive architecture on the site (1 wtc is right behind it). I'm begging for this tower to get tenants, so bad. Just curious, did Goldman Sachs have trouble finding tenants too?

It's the same with 1WTC and 4WTC I wonder why?

The tenants for Goldman Sachs buildings are Goldman Sachs, so I don't think they had a hard time finding tenants.

Unless you mean something else...

They appear to be more focused on finishing the lobby floor before raising the core form works. I'm still a bit skeptical of them building the podium. The PA Board Meetings only stated they would build some temporary walls for some of the mechanical equipment above ground. It's all on Silverstein to pay for a podium. I doubt he's got the cash. The PA sounds pretty strapped right now if the rumors are true (no more overtime on 1WTC, Memorial won't be finished by 9/11/2012)...

We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I've been following the progress on the new WTC for years, and wherever trouble pops up, the PA is not far. I'm sorry to put it that way, but the PA just sucks, big time. Even a dedicated man as Silverstein has a hard time dealing with those morons. I sometimes admire his infinite patience.

That was my rant for today.

Is there a reason that Dutche bank didn't occupy one of the new WTC buildings? Where did all the workers move to when their building was demolished!?

I think 2 WTC is at approximately the same stage in construction 4 WTC was at 2 years ago at this time, just starting to peek above ground level.

They moved to 60 Wall Street in late 2001.

Is that building new or was it vacant at the time?

It opened in 1989, so definitely not new, but I believe DB already had employees there and moved even more there after 130 Liberty Street was condemned.

Deutsche Bank (German bank) please - we're not Dutch (which would be the Netherlands).

Well, if I would own Deutsche Bank I'd surely rent space at the new WTC. The new WTC are the strongest and safest towers in the world. It doesn't get any safer than that
