The problem is that they've had 10 years to relocate and sign long-term leases elsewhere. It definitely stinks that it took so long to get these buildings going.

That's true, Larry and the PA at war, Libeskind and Childs at war, it's a wonder this project has finaly started. The delays in this project have been catastrophic. That's especially bad considering the importance of the complex

They will find tenants. I think they have 6 months to go before they make a decision to continue construction or stop construction.

So in 6 months, it will be spring. Birds will be chirping, the sun will be shining and the gloomy economic mood will improve for tenants to be signed

People, stay on topic! Goddarnit!
Which is the construction of 2 WTC in NYC. No economical discussions here and esp. not about the Euro zone, your dreams where to move or anything else. We have loads of skybar threads for such purposes.

I'm really getting tired of deleting your bullcrap everyday. And that especially goes to the adress of Kanto. You're regularily absuing the construction threads for mindless chat and redundant discussions, please stop that. Thank you.

There's plenty of construction work going on. It's just not high above ground yet..

That was my rant for today.
At least they are building for now. Once it will come to a standstill it will be an enormous pressure on PA and Silverstein to do something quick.

Lowermanhattan.info reports it as a "crane removal". So probably not "maintenance-related".

I don't think it is a perm removal. from the looks of it on KTI, there still is a lot of work to be done on that end with framing the foundations and such. So it might be just some mat. on it.

They've taken away the entire boom from the site. They've never done that before for just "maintenance". I doubt they need a big tower crane to lift the pieces to finish the last area of the lobby floor.

What? They're hauling ass down there. It's just not particularly visible.

If I'm not mistaken there is some mechanical equipment related to the transit hub, so they're going to do a couple of floors. Basically the podium, or in the renders the first four or five floors before the actual tower itself starts to rise. Once they get a tenant then they'll build the tower part.

I really doubt we'll see a large scale podium. I've read what others have posted, but frankly I doubt their validity.

From the Aug 26th, 2010 PA Board Meeting, page 204,

"the T2 Structure To Grade project would be built mainly to the ground level, with certain structures (including the permanent WTC Transportation Hub entrance, mechanical spaces and an architectural screen wall built on the ground level)."

yup, game over pretty much for WTC2 for a while. At least until they will find tenants. Sad but they told us that long time ago.

I really don't understand why there some people surprised that this is happening.

You will still see some work until next year although but don't get your hopes high. Sucks...
