Are we really doing this again! This project has been wrapped up in red tape, up until 2006 they were still searching for body parts so the buildings couldn't start. There were a ton of redesigns. And on top of everything else the complex is being built over a vital subway that links NYC to NJ and each of these buildings has to be bomb-proof. If it takes 13 years to finally finish one tower so what!

It took China like 15 years to build the Shanghai World Financial Center, are you really telling me they could do 4 towers in 2 years at that rate! NO, so shut up about it already.

There certainly were! If the original designs were accepted so much money wouldn't have been wasted in the design phase and they would actually have enough money to build them!

Does the design phase cost so much that you can build a skyscraper with that money?

No. Just ignore these idiots.

And this discussion about a bizarro 9/11 in China is absurd, not to mention irrelevant. Let the ignorance continue to wane as these towers grow.

Huh? They have a crane there and construction is proceeding.

If this thing was on hold there would be NO crane there at all.

It's not on hold just yet. They have reached street level and won't be rising any higher. But there's still work that needs to be done. We'll still see activity on the 2WTC site for a couple more months at least.

Looks like concrete has been poured for the current basement (lobby?) floor.

Is that why they didn't use as much rebar this time??? It seems for the first 4 level of the basement they used a ton of thick rebar. Seems for this floor they only used one thin layer.

So maybe they shouldn't select architects who want to build vertical windmill farms instead of skyscrapers to design those. I'm sure that a couple of those disaster designs could be avoided if proper specifications were made. But that was a free for all, and some people went berserk with unnecessary symbols.

Exactly. The original designs by Libeskind and Childs were truly sick

I still do not understand what will happen to this building in the short term. I mean we heard about it being a 'retail stub', but that would require a first floor and a roof of some kind. You can't just put a temporary roof on, can you? I see that the concrete forms for the core are above street level. Will this area just be walled off?
