Those are spectacular photos. Wow! It might be just me, but it seems like the buildings seems taller than what the height will be.

Maybe they should tear down the Millennium Tower since it continues to sink and tilt and build a building that is over 1000 feet tall in its place.

.....but only after they figure out why the Millennium Tower is sinking and fix the problem.

I think they do know. The piles were only about 80 feet deep instead of the usual 200 feet or so for massive West Coast skyscrapers. It should have been able to hold the weight anyway, but I don't think they hit actual solid bedrock.

It seems like it wouldn't be possible to fix since the building is already there/massive and weighs thousands of tons. Maneuvering it or altering the tilt would be borderline impossible. I think for the safety of thousands of people it should just be dismantled honestly.

As far as I can tell, the problem was that they built a cheaper foundation type that works for lighter steel frame towers, even on landfill (short pilings stuck into compacted sand, rather than all the way to bedrock, which is how many older towers in SF were built, which are considered safe). But then they built an extra heavy reinforced concrete building on top of it, instead of a steel frame building, and it's too much weight for the ground underneath to hold without compressing.
