Hahha I did not mean it that way--I posted it in 4 threads because-It is something first in the country-So it deserves to be in Buses/traMs Transportation thread.

There are plans to initiate the same in KSRTC buses so it found a place in KSRTC thread in KA forums

Next I had to post it in BMTC thread, being the parent thread.

Finally,I posted it in Bangalore discussion thread -Which I think was not needed , though I felt We guys can have some good discussion there.

This is not the first time, you do that in most of your posts for long. We are not getting time to note and make it clear to you or take any pruning action.

The very much reason for having separate forums and threads is to avoid duplication.

A news being posted in Bangalore thread, need not be there in KA forum again.

It is generally tolerated when done minimally, but in your case it is done excessively, which amounts to spamming, which is not as per the forum rules and decorum.

Also it would be better if you concentrate more on the ‘quality’ of the posts.

Karnataka set to launch card for cashless travel in buses
2010-10-28 19:20:00

Quote:
Bangalore, Oct 28 (IANS) India's tech hub Bangalore is racing with Pune in neighbouring Maharashtra to launch the country's first ever Common Mobility Card for cashless travel in city buses.

Karnataka plans to introduce this facility soon in 1,000 buses in Bangalore, Transport Minister R. Ashoka told reporters here Thursday. He did not specify from when the facility will be operational.

Pune, about 800 km northwest of Bangalore, has set Nov 14 for launching the facility in its city buses.

Depending on the success of the experiment, the facility would be extended to cover Metro rail which is expected to start operations here in December.

The central government, which is sharing the cost of implementing the plan with the state governments, wants CMC to be used across any public transportation system like buses, trains, metros, ferries, taxis, autorickshaws.

It also wants the CMC to be used for toll collection on highways, retail payments, utility payments and vehicle parking slots.

The Bangalore project is being implemented at a cost of around Rs.16 crore of which the state will meet 65 percent and the rest will be borne by the central government.

Ashoka said around 100 re-charge centres would be established across Bangalore to enable commuters to re-charge their cards.

The central government mooted the idea of a Common Mobility Card to tide over the bottleneck in promoting the use of public transport.

'One of the important activities of seamless connectivity is ticket integration,' the union urban development ministry's metro rail cell had said in its Sep 14 letter to all state government on promoting CMC.

'The technology today makes it feasible to provide ticket integration in the form of a common ticket by way of a Contactless Smart Card which can work as per the fare system of the issuing operator and as an e-purse to enable ticketing on other operators' network,' the letter pointed out.

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) Chairman and Managing Director Dilip Band had said in Pune in late September that CMC would be introduced in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad from Nov 14.

Good to see Bangalore and Pune-The cute twins getting such a facility

Now Google for BMTC schedules

Staff Reporter

Information on routes also to be available
Quote:

BANGALORE: Google India and the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) have come together to provide bus schedules and routes of Vajra, Vayu Vajra and Big10 buses via Google Maps over desktop and mobile.

Just like Google Maps, this facility will be available free of cost, said a release from Google.

This is the first bus service launch for Google Transit in India, it said.

The release quoted BMTC Managing Director Syed Zamir Pasha saying the corporation was proud to be the first bus service to provide Google maps to its commuters. Manik Gupta, Head of Maps and Local Products, Google India, said Google was happy to collaborate with BMTC to offer this service.

Google Transit's goal is to make public transport information easily accessible and useful. Commuters can get all the information like bus frequency, route and travel duration.

Google Transit is a trip planner that is easily accessible on Google Maps. In India, Google Maps also provides information on route, fare, schedule and duration on the Delhi Metro.

Google is partnering with several agencies to have Transit available across all major cities and towns in India.

COMMON MOBILITY CARD Bengalureans, stand by for stress-free bus rides BENGALURU

Quote:
Oct. 28: Gear up for hassle free travel on public transport buses in the state. Karnataka is all set to become the first state to launch the Common Mobility Card for commuters travelling by city bus services, which will help passengers avoid the ordeal of buying a ticket for every trip and tendering the exact amount for the ticket.

Transport minister R.Ashok who announced this on Thursday, said the facility would be introduced in 1,000 buses and would later be extended to the Metro rail too. The card can be used for paying parking fee at parking lots too. The Centre had chosen Karnataka for introducing the card and is sharing 35 per cent of the expenditure involved.
“At least 100 recharge centres will be established to enable commuters to recharge their cards,” he said. The Centre is planning to extend the card scheme across the country after studying its success in Karnataka, which boasts of a electronic driving test track, also the first of its kind in the country to test the driving skills of those applying for a driving license.

The state government is also set to re-introduce the 24-hour beat system for the police from next year under which, a team of policemen will maintain surveillance in a patrol vehicle, across the city. “As many as 1,035 assistant sub-inspectors and 4,012 police constables are being recruited to operationalize the beat system, which was done away fifteen
years ago,” Mr Ashok said.

According to the revised guidelines, police will choose 50 eminent personalities in each locality and will make them part of their day and night beat system. “The present beat system has failed to yield the desired results. Hence, the new system,” he said, adding that eight more police training schools would be set up taking their number to 14 in the state. Here police personnel will be trained as per a revised syllabus. “The new syllabus will impart skills in handling cyber crimes and Naxal and terror threats,” he said.

Comprehensive amendments are being made to the Karnataka Police Act and a bill for the purpose would be introduced in the coming legislature session, the minister added.

I think the bus was returned because the trial period ended. The trial run was extended for a month (since September end to October end) due to good response.

The bus is a good product (except for rattling fittings, and slightly tight seats).

They are promoting the multi axle vovlo service under the banner -Airaavath club
