Bay Area Universities, Colleges, and Schools

Hey guys. I am about to start a mammoth huge project. Creating a 3d replica of Berkeley University for future application of webdesign and such. (srry I can't get into the application part of it cause its kinda secret but if this works ooh its going to be awesome.)

What I can say is that we are going to create a navigable environment of Berkeley Univ. and I am one of the lead 3d dudes working on it. Since I do not live there I need to gather as much photo reference I can, and if possible the names of the buildings and any history behind them, like who commissioned it to be built and yadda yadda. I will go down there to visit it personally and take some photos but I was hoping you guys can help me out.

Mostly I need photos of the buildings, like a walkabout from as many views as I can, since I am starting on the models now. If you want to know more about me and what I do take a look at the HK forum, I typically make HK buildings for a game called Simcity 4, but now this is my new project.

Me in the HK forum >>> http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=384216

me at Simtropolis >>>

Nice!! Wellman Hall seems tiny! looks like it only has room for two classrooms. The names help out alot since I can now search google by building name, so that gets me a step in the right direction. thanks!!

No problem. You may also want to check out www.berkeley.edu for campus maps, other landmark buildings.

Oh, and I forgot the most important landmark of all - Sather Gate

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Will you be able to convert it into a SC4 building somehow???

You went to CaL, didn't you? Grad school maybe. Possibly part of the free speech movement?

"free speech movement"...gotta love you, svs. no: education was pretty much at home with Iowa, UIC, and Roosevelt (grad school).

Shockingly, svs, I didn't even attend classes at UPRA*

Thanks, I think. I'll take any love I can get. Especially on this forum. You're pretty familiar with SF for such a Chicago booster. I figured you probably went to school there. I really pictured you out in front of Sather gate with a picket sign and some love beads. Oh well.

moved to SF from Chgo when I was jr high age for 4 years. Loaded with family out there. My mom's uncle left Russia and came to SF by way of China early in the 20th century. My aunt and 2 uncles moved there from Chicago both before I was born and when I was young. So we've had friends and family in SF, up in Petaluma, in the East Bay...lots of places. And I have frequently gone on trips to the Bay Area.

So, yes, it is a very much beloved second home.

Well we have something else in common. I have lots of family in the bay area as well (though I have never lived there) including faculty at Cal. I go up all the time. Its a good second home.

If you weren't in the Berkeley free speech movement, were you at least in Lincoln Park during the 68 fracas?

You might find Flickr to be rather useful. Users upload their pictures and you can browse through them.

Hearst Mining Circle (under re-construction), Hearst Mining Building (the one with the arches) and Stanley Hall (the one with green tiles).
