Great Synagogue Romi Goldmuntz in Antwerp (1928), the most important of the 30 synagogues in Antwerp, although not the most attractive... I'll try to get an inside pic.

The Stadttempel in Vienna has been the major jewish temple in this city since 1826. Its built in neoclassical style, features 500 seats and is the only synagogue out of 95 that the city once hosted, which was not burned down and only slightly damaged during the Nazi era. The reason why it was spared is because it was so tightly integrated in the inner city that they would have risked setting the inner city of Vienna at fire.

Find the synagogue: (thats the front side)

could you find the entrance:

I knew that there were Jews in Iran - but I didn't think that the Iranian Government would allow Synagogues to exist. Is there much persecution of the Jews in Iran? Surely they wouldn't be able to preach Zionism there....

Jews in Iran can live freely without any fear of persecution.
Judaism also does not automatically mean Zionist.
You should watch this dvd for a good contemporary view of jews in Iran

Also there has to be a jewish and a christian member of parliament in Iran during every election.

Zionists would not live in Iran. But Jewish life is normal as well as the life of the Armenian Christians. They are protected by law since they are monotheist religions. Other religions such as Zoroastrians or Baha'i are persecuted or at least repressed...

Present Day

The total Jewish population in Belgium is approximately 35,000, with a high concentration in Brussels and Antwerp. Small Jewish communities exist in Charleroi, Oostende, Ghent, Liege, Mons, Arlon, Waterloo and Knokke. Jewish culture remains strong throughout Belgium. There are more than a dozen Jewish schools, five Jewish newspapers and more than 45 active synagogues. Most Belgian Jews belongs to the middle class and are active in the fur, textile, leather and diamond industries.

If there are 30 synagogues in Antwerp alone, how about the rest of the country???

The synagogue in Groningen, the Netherlands, is a beautiful building. Most of the Jewish population did not survive WWII, sadly, but the synagogue is now the center of a small, vibrant Jewish community again.

Well Argentina has the largest Jewish diaspora in America after the US. About 2% of the Argentine population is Jew (mostly German, Russian and Polish in origin)!

Here some pics of Buenos Aires:

BA Jewish neighborhood:

AMIA-Jewish Community Center

The names on the wall represent the 85 people who perished in a 1994 terrorist attack on this center. Argentina blames Iran & Hezbollah for the attack.

Interesting pics from Buenos Aires. At least you didn't show the mosque!
Do the Jews over there speak mostly Ladino or Yiddish?

Most speak Yiddish. Yiddish is spoken by over 200,000 people in Argentina. And Jewish schools teach Yidish too.

There are not that many Jews left in Bulgaria, most of them fled after WWII. Sofia once had a vibrant Jewish community.

Sofia Synagogue

One of the 2 functioning in Bulgaria
Largest in SEE
Sephardic
Finished in 1909

the other synagogues in Bulgaria are really small and in an architectural point of view offer nothing special, so are even housed in regular house like structures. The interesting ones would be Burgas and Vidin

Burgas Synagogue - now Art Gallery

but here are the ruins of the Vidin Synagogue that was once was beauty, that has unfortunately been abandoned for years, before its destruction it was the largest in BG. Built in 1894, during communism it was converted into a warehouse.
