Awesome. I would have assumed that with land in Hong Kong as scarce as it is that a lot of these types of buildings would have been torn down and replaced by newer, taller buildings by now.

They are slowly being replaced by redevelopment. You can already see evidence of change in those new 40+ storey towers shown in the photos. These would never have been allowed a decade ago with Kai Tak airport in the vicinity. Although there is still land around outside of Kowloon available or further development as well.

Yes, it will take quite a long time to redevelop all those old buildings, but there are a number of projects under way and we will slowly see transformation.

But then, a lot of these low and mid-rise buildings just need a paint job and a few checks on the exterior walls and they'll look much better and safer.
