Very Nice. That's definitely a very large entertainment center. I'm now patiently awaiting Silverbird's new mega Lagos mall project to begin, now that I'm seeing more and more that they are really putting up some excellent quality work; I can only imagine that the Lagos mall project will be a major blockbusting success for the the company and the city.

By the way, based on those pictures just posted.. is it just me or does it seem as though the city has cleaned up that little Village park? It seems to look a bit more cleaner and greener than it looked in the earlier pictures.

Possibly the green has just regenerated. It takes time for the plants to grow up, you know after replanting.

FCT Minister Impressed with Silverbird

Summary:

Quote:
FCT Minister Adamu Aliero was so impressed with Silverbird Group when he took a tour around the upcoming Silverbird Entertainment Center, Abuja, that he wants to collaborate with Mr. Murray-Bruce to erect another shopping mall and a five-star hotel in the area.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Adamu Aliero, took a tour around the Silverbird Entertainment Center, Abuja , which is in advanced stages of completion, on Wednesday May 4.

Describing the Chairman of Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce, as a patriot, nationalist and visionary, Senator Aliero pledged the readiness of the FCT administration to work closely with him to open up the Federal territory to entertainment.

The FCT Minister was impressed upon beholding the magnificence of the intimidating structure that is the Silverbird Entertainment Center. In fact, the structure got the Minister dreaming about collaborating with Mr. Murray-Bruce to erect a shopping mall and a five-star hotel just a stones-throw from the Entertainment Center.

However, Mr. Murray-Bruce is not done with the Entertainment Center yet: He plans to annex the neighbouring FCT cultural village to it, and turn it into a theme park celebrating the country’s culture and history, as well as venerating the nation’s past leaders. There are also plans to build a 100-room cultural hotel in the vicinity of the Entertainment Center.

While the FCT Minister approved the annexing of the cultural center beside the complex, he withheld approval for a the cultural hotel within the complex until the Abuja masterplan is consulted. On the whole, the Silverbird Group Chairman is happy that the FCT has decided to partner with him in realizing his very tall dreams for the capital.

The FCT Minister is known to be shrewd in encouraging plans like those of the Silverbird Group -- which has invested heavily in the territory. Senator Aliero pointed out that Silverbird Group is the first to have attained the feat of putting up the Entertainment Center, which is why he has little hesistation in throwing his weight behind Silverbird's other aspirations.

As for Mr. Murray-Bruce’s intentions of venerating the country’s past leaders, the FCT Minister says such projects are very welcome, now more than ever.

Coming on the heels of the Silverbird Cinemas opening at Ceddi Plaza in Abuja a few weeks ago, the opening of the Silverbird Entertainment Center, which the Chairman says may be as early as next month, is yet another milestone.

Residents of the Capital Territory are being put on notice that Silverbird Group is taking its domination of Nigeria’s entertainment industry to the next level, with plans to erect a 64 storey stratosphere (to be the tallest building in Africa,) and a 100-room cultural hotel.

In the process of being endorsed by the FCT administration, the message is clear “Watch out Abuja!”

If the minister is going to collaborate with Morris Bruce on any other project, it's be better done on the Abuja stratosphere.

From the photo above, it can be seen that tourists are already making use of the facilities (cultural village) meaning that Nigeria has great tourism potential.

Merging the entertainment centre with the cultural village and building a hotel in the vicinity is also a great idea. Abuja needs bigger things not small small dots scattered around the place.

I think Nigeria has great tourism (tourist) potentials only that they are not developed.

Nigeria has great tourist potential, but will never realize same without first adequately addressing its security (and infrastructure) issues.

I love the design of this complex. It doesn't have that 80s look to it.
