Does Seattle get snow in the winter?

Yea, on a average of 6 to 8 inches of snow usually. But much more on average in the upper hills surrounding the city and to the west.

Downtown proper gets no snow at all in some years. At least none that sticks. That's because we have water, buildings radiate heat, and we're at low or fairly-low elevation.

As for the rest of the city, if there's one inch at 7:00 am, the schools probably close. That might happen once a year.

I don't remember 6 or 8 inches in very many years, except on bigger hills.

6 to 8 is pretty uncommon in the city. The outer suburbs and higher hills of the the region can get that, but rarely does Seattle city proper. I've lived in the city proper for 3 years now and would say 1 inch accumulation is average, unfortunately. I love snow lol.
