Noticed they are removing tracks at present for this one to start

ive just realized this is very similar to the cape town station facade with timber instead of steel attached to facade columns.

Well I see Metro Rail are keeping the current ticket office, and have just painted it with their std colours, tho the shop area has been bulldozed down, not sure what they going to put up there.

When looking the other day, looked like clearing and fencing of the area had started. DB you noticed when you were down there?

Those designs look impressive!

I hope Metro rail also improves the service i.e. safety on coaches, providing neater coaches, security around stations, easy access to stations, bus feeder system, etc. It should be long term project to improve public transport.

totally agree. The improvement and new trains/coaches is underway. The element of safety and feeder systems are the ones that need alot of focus to make all the new stations opening in Durban work.

I saw ads on tv about new train sets etc. but it will take more than new and refurbished trains to improve the service levels

Thats not possible. We need to boot them and get an international operator.
Unfortunately I think SARCC, Intersite and Metrorail are forming one company.

It's a shame we have to rely on international companies to run a simple service.

I realise that, but someone has to be relied upon. It saddens me that we can't set personal targets to be "picked" when it comes to these things instead of doing the picking.

just noticed that there is little cover for the public on the platforms. usually there is just a basic structure to provide cover during colder days, of which i see 1...i dont see anything that would provide decent cover

nice, but cant help wondering, will it give them enough time? A few delays and they could miss there deadline.
