That's the services tunnel.
Basement levels have been approved, so can get underway shortly. The rest of the building is still in negotiations. |

Hopefully it blocks the carpark at night, the place has about 100 times more lights than it needs...

This morn. By volume, this would have to be the biggest excavation in Brissy at the moment...

definetly if you factor in the extra excavation they had to do for the new carpark behind it

there's 4 basement levels, bit over 12m below stanely street very hypnotic/distracting to watch them excavate from the kiddies outpatients rooms. |

Oh well at least the kids have something alternative to watch than the TV ![]() Some could imagine they were in there digging out the soil and so on, so yes it could become hypnotic to watch ![]() Alas in that last pic there seems to be a lot of sand and even some richer darker soils. I was thinking there would be a lot of rock there too being near a hill... |

for those that don't like the green paneled faccade of the carpark, quite a bit of it is going to be covered up by the new power building for the QCH. This happens to be right next to the current Qld Leukaemia association housing, which of course are choosing to move, freeing up space for the research building.

Went past this one this arvo. It's a decent sized crane, but it looks like they're leaving space for other crane(s).

Funny also to think that a very large percentage of Brisbane were probably born at the Mater Mothers on the hill.

If you believe their advertising the Mater mothers has the most deliveries of any hospital in Australia.
The QCH is coming along nicely, excavation looks like it's done, 1 of the lift cores is poured and the other one doesn't look like it has too much more to go. |

Just had a chat with an elderly office staff at the elevator, she reckons that the QCH is nothing but one big catholic conspiracy. She's yet to work out the semantics of the plot but will update me once Magda from the local parish has heard from her brother who works for the council.
