I need help! Modern Architecture..

Ok I know this sounds desperate but I need to give an explanation of Modern architecture what principles it exemplifies...how to describe it and its impact on our daily lives, my only problem is I dont know how to start, some things to get me started would be greatly appreciated.

Well...

Modern architecture's main point is to put form over function. Of course, we're kinda growing out of that know. The article on modern architecture on wikipedia is actually pretty good, it lists all of the different forms of architecture starting in the early 1900's and the progressive movements, as well as the pioneers of the different types, like Frank Lloyd Wright and Frank Gehry. Hope that helps!

How do you mean that? Function follows form? In that case, it's wrong.

I guess it should have read: form follows function.

OOOP! you are so right, just me being a fake dislexic again...

What I meant to say was, that in modern architecture form FOLLOWS function, which is why we have so many practical ugly boxes compleely devoid of ornamentation everywhere.

Sorry about the mistake that totally changed the entire meaning of everything that I meant to say!

There is far more to 'modern' architecture than just form follows function. modernist architecture is embedded in the notion of the rejection of the past- as the main derivative for the basis of the function and the architectural form.
