Chisinau-Leuseni road was repaired at cost of almost 23 million euro (99km -> 240000 euro/km).

Some photos from Chisinau I've made during my stay there in march 2008. I was travelling through a boarder pass in Brinceni (UA/MD) and in my opinion road Brinceni-Chisinau (I don't remember the number) is much better then Ukrainian roads I have seen. Truly speaking the pavement is in rather poor condition but the road has 3 lanes (1x3) mostly. Generally it's not bad.
Unfortunately I've got photos only from Chisinau.

One would expect much worse cars for their GDP. I hope they can handle the credits now.

Yeah, some of the cars actually do look very good. The rest looks like 1980

In fact it should be: some of the cars actually do look like 1980. The rest looks very good.

I think the most frightening is the pic with lampposts, withouth lamps on them...

Probably some thieves took it for sale to get some money...

Even in Poland some people demolished one of these big motorway signs, just to sell the metal

That even happens in the Netherlands. Truckloads of crashbarriers are stolen so far.

nice photos... some of them look bad... but looks better than i imagined...

is that a hole in road without any warning signs?

and i guess better cars mean you have some a pretty good money doing illegal things... that reminds me about my Balkan here...

lamp posts are really scary... why would people steal that...

I know that motorway signs are not made out of copper, but the theft of copper is probably a problem in every European country, because it has become so valuable.

I didn't see any warning sign. It's normal in eastern countries.
Moldova is very strange country. Poverty is obvious there especially in the village but the capital Chisinau has already been westernized. I recommend everyone to visit Moldova, taste their delicious wine, see beautyfull countryside and cave monastir in Butuceni near Orhei. In this way we can help them do develop their weak economy.

The problem is that driving such distance probably takes at least 3 times more than traveling the same distance in western Europe.

Even more actually (some 300 km), b/c you probably wouldn't go there through Ukraine, but Romania.
