Obviously, sharing of information is the only motive.

I have been on the web platform actively since 5 years now. I started blogging about Hubli and Dharwad in 2007 (See my blog http://hublidharwad2020.blogspot.com).

What I have noticed that there are very few number of quality websites/blogs dedicated to a big city like Hubli. I am trying to bridge that gap and hence I have developed an exclusive website for Hubli - Dharwad.

More people need to get involved in the development of the city, if not on the ground, atleast on the internet. Awareness needs to be created amongst the citizens.

Aware and informed citizens alone can take the city to the next level.

Can someone tell me where exactly is this tolanakere?Google earth has not updated Hubli's imagery since 2003,it becomes difficult to track lakes on such maps.

Works on glass house, heritage park to begin soon

BELGAUM: In a meeting held here on Sunday, district minister Umesh Katti instructed officials to begin construction of the proposed glass house and the heritage park at the Vaccine Depot. The government had announced the Rs 25-crore twin projects for Belgaum in memory of the World Kannada Meet held in the city recently. Katti asked officials to call tender notification immediately and start the work. Experts Nitin Khot, Praveen Bavadekar and D H Rao were present.

In another meeting with the members of Kittur Development Authority (KDA) and district level officials, Katti directed them to prepare second phase action plan to take up development works at Kittur, Sangolli and Kakati villages, on behalf of KDA.

The government has released Rs 8 crore to KDA to take up development works. Of them, KDA has undertaken 17 works including protection of the watch tower inside the fort, protection of the darbar hall, footpath construction, developing garden at Sangolli village, improvement of roads in Kakati village and electrification works, spending Rs 3.56 crore so far.

CM plans big for twin cities

HUBLI: Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday directed the officials to prepare a master plan for the comprehensive and planned growth of the twin cities, while keeping in mind the next 50 years.

Speaking after laying a foundation stone for housing complexes to be built by Karnataka Housing Board here, he asked the officials to take steps in this regard. "Hubli-Dharwad is being developed as the second-biggest destination after Bangalore in the state. Hubli airport is being developed as an international airport. There is no dearth for funds for development," he said.

The CM said a lot of development has taken place in Hubli-Dharwad in the last three years. "The twin cities are getting importance with regard to development. I have sanctioned everything that was asked by (ministers) Jagadish Shettar, C M Udasi and Basavaraj Bommai. Works which would have taken place in 20 years have been done in only three years," he claimed.

Asking the ministers not to ask for more, he directed the authorities to complete the development works that have already started. The four-lane road works between Hubli-Dharwad should be completed within two years. He announced another Rs 3 crore for the development of Unkal Lake garden.

Lauding DC Darpan Jain for his work, he asked him to complete all the works that he had initiated "as he is required in other districts".

On the occasion, he asked housing minister V Somanna and his department officials to work on a war footing to provide houses to the homeless of the state in two years.

The board will build about 3,700 residential plots and over 100 houses with different accommodation in the proposed housing complexes which will come up in Gamanagatti, Amargol and Hiremalligawad villages.
