Boise in Summer~La Petite Ville dans Les Bois

This thread is a collection of photos I took of Boise this past Summer. Some were taken during the Saturday Farmers Market, some on regular business days, some from the Basque Wine Festival and some during a ceremony for a Gold Medalist in the current Olympics who is a Boisean.
I have also included the Boise River and Greenbelt.
Almost all of the pics were taken in the downtown area except for a few river pics taken just East of downtown in Parkcenter.

These pictures give a good idea of what summer is like in Boise, Idaho.
Enjoy.

A few skyline shots taken from Crescent Rim, both taken in early Summer.

I just can't describe how pleasurable is Boise. Nice Pics! Which camera do you use, Sawtooth?

It works very well. Do you choose any special settings for day light pics?

I use the standard "auto" and "portrait" settings.

I like the cozy, earthy feel of the city even though Idaho is a right wing red state. Boise is another city that reminds me of Austin. I love the cleanliness of it.

Boise is a pretty laid back city and is more Democrat than Republican based on the past elections. Even though Idaho is a red state doesn't make it any worse or extreme than a state that is mostly blue.
Most republicans in Idaho are more live and let live and do your own thing and we will all get along. Idaho is one of the most beautiful and out of the way states in the union and people who live here take great pride in that fact and are not your typical Americans.

Idaho seems like it has that more NW vibe to it. Just relax and let things be, unlike the NE.

Boise looks like a really clean, fun, active Western town. Kind of like Portland/Albuquerque/Austin mix. Love it.

i wanted to add one more thing...

for a U.S. city, everyone looks like they're in REALLY good shape! Is that really the case with Boise?

A lot of people in Boise are lean and in good shape and of course there are fatties and out of shape people around. The city and area are very outdoor oriented and mountain biking and riding bikes in general is a religion here as is kayaking and river rafting. To fit into Boise you have to have a mountain bike. Jogging and running are really popular here as well as rock climbing. There are some sweet areas right in city limits particularly in the Foothills which have great rock climbing. The outlying areas are full of mountains, canyons, forests and desert scenery so there are a lot of options for being active.
The locally grown organic food movement here is also huge and people tend to pay attention to what they are eating.
