For the most part, Hong Kong has notoriously bad commercials (I feel).

But hey, if it caters to the locals, who's to complain?

Having said that, there's been a considerable drop in advertisement levels worldwide.

I have to disagree.

I think Hong Kong has really great commercials.

The "Did you drink Yakult today" ones and the HSBC one with the old couple "I didn't come everyday to have your noodles, I came everyday to see you" lol. Anyone else remember those?

The Yakult one where the girlfriend tries to ignore her old aged boyfriend who didn't drink Yakult?

It's a mean commecial , but that's the only one I remember.

I think HK commercials are quite well-produced. People always praise about Japanese commercials. I've just been to Japan and watched their commercials, not any better than HK ones. Probably at the same level.
HK commercials are far more interesting and creative than Australian ones.

Totally agree with you and I think this one is the greatest commercial ever made! very romantic!

Depends on which. Some are good while some are bad.

Good ones:
-San Miguel Beer

-Ads involving automobiles

-Any ad involving NOW Broadband TV (or anything related to PCCW)
-Any HKBN ad
-Ads related to food (esp. fast food chains)

Bad ones:
-Ads on medicinal product
-Any ad related to HK I-CABLE (seriously HK I-CABLE fucking sucks

)

P.S.
Strange though. Are local TV Commercials aired in Hong Kong only allowed to be aired on local TV networks??? I say this because I've seen stations on pay TV such as AXN, Animax, Cartoon Network (broadcasting from Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay) and heck even Star World (which is broadcasting from their HQ in nearby HUNG HOM) has no commercials whatsoever. Seems pretty boring IMHO (without commercials).
