Antwerp

First Stock Exchange (became quickly to small :P)

Second (burnt down twice, in 1583 and in 1858) It was the first building in the world designed as stock exchange and trade exchange (1531). Queen Elisabeth I had it copied by architect Gresham and called it the Royal Exchange of London (not the current one, it was destroyed in the Great Fire of London).
Outside
Inside

Nowadays Antwerp doesn't have a stock exchange anymore (all in Brussels now)

The second one is now being renovated into a 5* hotel.

It's a shame that the TSX changed to virtual trading. The image of a chaotic frantic trading floor is an interesting image. Something has been lost, but that's progress, I suppose.

In this case there is a certain rivalry between Antwerp and Amsterdam about the first stock exchange. Because what is a stock exchange without any stocks? In 1602, the Dutch East India Company issued the first shares on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. It was the first company to issue stocks and bonds. This is why the Amsterdam Stock Exchange is considered by many people as the oldest in the world.

Amsterdam has had 4 different buildings exclusively build for their stock exchange, the dates between () are the dates that the building was in use as stock exchange.

1. Amsterdam Stock Exchange of Hendrick de Keyser (1611-1838), demolished:

2. Amsterdam Stock Exchange of Zocher (1848-1903), demolished:

3. Amsterdam Stock Exchange of Berlage - Beurs van Berlage (1903-1912):

Left the older stock exchange, on the right the new one.

The last financial trading activity took place in 1998, but the stock exchange already left in 1912. It is currently in use as cultural center. The Beurs van Berlage is considered one of the most important monuments in the Netherlands.

One of the 3 main halls, mostly in use for conferences and exhibitions:

4. Amsterdam Stock Exchance (1912-?):

Seen as London's been done. I'll do Islamabad.

Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) is the smallest of the 3 Stock Exchanges of Pakistan. The other two being Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) & Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE).

I don't know how the current Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) building looks like. But the new one, called the Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) Towers topped out at its height of 19 floors in Mid 2008.

Here are its pics:

On the left is the under construction Islamabad Stock Exchange building, on the right we have Saudi Pak tower and the NIC building (left to right)

HAHA!! Yeah!! It really is. Islamabad Proper (including the institutional and industrial areas) is only 220 km² in land area. Its population is very small too. Atleast by Asian standards. It houses only 800,000 people.

They started doing this after 9-11 but I like it. I don't see how the nations flag ruins the columns, they're still there underneath the flag.

Yea, nicely tucked away out of sight...unless you use the lit up version, which just looks like something Disneyland came up with.

Meh, each to their own and all that.

This comes from the Encyclopaedia Brittanica:

"Antwerp also became a financial centre: its Stock Exchange (inaugurated 1531), a model for the younger London and Amsterdam exchanges, was..."

Maybe Amsterdam was the first where companies issued stocks. Already in Roman times the empire issued stocks. That could be the difference between the Antwerp and Amsterdam Stock Exchange. But I'm not sure.
