The Philippines didn't suffer to the same extent as many other Asian countries during the 1990s and has since experienced very high GDP growth (between 6-8%, making it the fastest growing country in South Asia) in a country of 90 million people.

I'm confused. Which is Manila's stock exchange building? Manila has 4?

currently, there are two buildings.
the one in Makati and the one in Ortigas.
they kind of maintain two trading floors
but when the headquarters in BGC
will be built, the two will unified.

Just a note. The Diamond Building in Diagonal Street, Johannesburg, was build by AngloAmerican in 1985. It never was the stock exchange. Its neighbour, the rather blank picture that you see to the right of the Diamond building, that is the old JSE building. The area went through a spectacular downturn in the late 1980's to late 1990's, and due to crime the JSE moved north to Sandton in 1999. Today, the area is much better. The old Ernest and Young Building (17floors) was empty for almost a decade - today it is a luxury apartment building. First National Bank is building new offices directly opposite the old JSE, and also moved into some of the abandoned buildings. AngloAmerican (AngloAshanti), moved one block away into a gloriously refurbished turbine hall of the old powerstation. And ABSA Bank moved one of its divisions into the iconic Diamond building, after an extensive refurb.

The JSE now sits comfortably in Sandton, 15km to the north. In Maude Street, the place to be. Sandton has gone from small decentralised node to the main financial centre of the city - this is where you find the main station for the soon to be complete high-speed inter-city rail link. also most of the 5star hotels are here. The old city centre is still home to all of the banking and insurance giants - four major banks have their HQs in the old city centre.

The Philippine Stock Exchange building looks very impressive, and expensive too. It seems that our country is really forwarding. I am also looking forward for the fast construction of the Davao Stock Exchange.
