Capacity probably a bit low.. 40,000 would have been great. Love the stadium look! Wish for something of the same down here in Tasmania!!

I guess after completion it will look somewhat like Golden Terraces shopping mall in Warsaw, especially the dome. See gallery: http://www.zlotetarasy.pl/en/galeria

No offense, but the light projectors just make the stadium look a bit too amateurish, otherwise it would have been a great stadium

P.S- Where is Melbourne??? USA???

Nice.

P.S. I agree about the light towers, i think it spoils the design.

God no. Look up 1956 olympics.

Will this stadium be ready for the 2010-2011 season? I was hoping it would be ready for this season but it doesn't look like it and the victory have their matches at etihad.

Melbourne's state-of-the-art rectangular stadium could be expanded to seat up to 50,000 people if Australia lures the soccer World Cup.

With only months before soccer, rugby league and rugby union action kicks off at the $267.5 million stadium, about 60 per cent of the work has been done.

The finishing touches are expected to be applied this year before the stadium opens next year.

A battle of the codes is likely to erupt as tenants Melbourne Victory and Melbourne Storm go head-to-head for the right to play the first match before 31,000 fans.

But Major Events Minister Tim Pallas said the stadium could be revamped to seat 50,000 if Melbourne played a part in future major events such as a soccer World Cup.

"If Melbourne were to play a part in hosting a World Cup we could go to 50,000," he said.
Looks like the storm will get first use of the stadium.

Victoria is an AFL/cricket state, not a rugby state, so a large rectangular stadium isn't necessary.

This stadium reminds me of a shopping center "Złote Tarasy" in Warsaw

Awesome looking stadium, defintely going to keep an eye on this one.

So this one is being used for Soccer, Rugby and League. I'm assuming AFL is played at the Telstra Dome/Docklands (what's it called now?). Is the MCG used for anything over the winter besides the occasional International Rugby match?

The MCG is used for AFL matches between March-September and cricket from September to February. Oh and acting as our sporting shrine all year round.

The MCG hosts about 50-60 afl matches throughout the winter.

Really? Wow, didn't know that, but don't know much about AFL at all. What about the dome?
