It would be really interesting if anyone could provide an up to date map of all the dual carriageway highways in Brazil today, as well as those under construction and under planning. A map like the one provided in the Argentina thread.

What's going on here - U-turns? Interchange with something that hasn't been built yet?

No, it's simply a grade-separated U-turn. Just a few roads in Brasil are fully grade-separated. This one showed on the pic is a duplicated road, but it has probably some rural roads intercepting it. So, people need U-turns to get their way.

This kind of intersection is common in São Paulo state highways - considered to be the best in Brasil. Federal highways often have a unsafe way to make U-turns, like this:

Those grade-separated U-turns are a remedy for the fact Brazil has only 510km of fully access-controlled AND grade-separated highways. Farms, local neighborhoods, industrial estates all use roadside direct access, creating traffic hazards as those entrances/exits are well below standards.

This is the new BR-448 Rodovia do Parque, an alternate route to BR-116 near Porto Alegre, that is completely congested. The last picture is the intersection with the BR-290, where it will begin/end I really would like to see it going south through a new bridge over Guaíba River, the old one is a shame.
