You can tell a big difference in northern Brazil, where much of the population uses the bikes and / or bike as a primary means of locomotion. Already São Paulo, southern Brazil and it was expected that the population had access to more cars.

A new 5 km highway Raposo Taveres opened.

Com cinco meses de antecedência, o Governo do Estado entregou hoje mais dois trechos duplicados da rodovia Raposo Tavares em Araçoiaba da Serra e Capela do Alto. No total, foram 4,72 km entregues neste sábado, 2, pelo governador Geraldo Alckmin. "É o conceito de rodovia viva. Tem que cuidar e atender o usuário. Rodovia evita acidentes. É o caminho das pessoas terem mobilidade com segurança", disse.


De acordo com a diretora-geral da Artesp (Agência de Transporte do Estado de São Paulo), Karla Bertocco, "a duplicação é importante pois ajuda os usuários a terem mais velocidade e principalmente uma viagem mais segura".



Até julho, mais 10 km de duplicação serão inaugurados na Raposo Tavares. Em 2014, o total duplicado deve chegar a 42,9 km, com investimento de R$ 203 milhões. O valor foi viabilizado pelo Programa de Concessões Rodoviárias do Governo do Estado de São Paulo. Alckmin destacou que as rodovias são "o caminho do desenvolvimento e do emprego" e que "emprego é fruto de investimentos".


Os trechos entregues neste sábado são entre o km 117,9 e o km 120, e do km 130 ao km 132,62. Nestes pontos, o tráfego médio diário é de 10,6 mil veículos.

The signs warn you the aproaching of the stupid curve ahead, that should have been eased in the duplication of this road. And this comment shows how the average brazilian doesn't understand anything about decent highways:

Of course the road is far from excellent, otherwise the countdown signs wouldn't be necessary. But for average brazilian drivers, the only thing that matters is the road surface quality and the number of lanes.
