Great pics, xrtn2! I'm a huge fan of this BR-448 project. I hope they bring it up to Estância Velha.

I heard there is another project, but on the opposite side, linking Porto Alegre/Gravataí straight to Sapiranga. Do you guys have more info on it.

I heard there is another project, but on the opposite side, linking Porto Alegre/Gravataí straight to Sapiranga. Do you guys have more info on it.
Answering myself. It's the RS 010, to be built in 4 lanes. Posted originally by the forumer luancarpe:

I read on the Brazilian forum, they will also upgrade the BR 116 between Porto Alegre and Novo Hamburgo, adding more lanes, viaducts, eliminating the bottlenecks.

It's amazing how there are no criteria whatsoever to invest on roads in Brazil:

Two lanes being added on southwestern Goiás state, between Rio Verde (185,000 inh.) and Jataí (90,000 inh.). They're 95 km away and there's nothing between them. Goiás, although not having an impressive fleet (see post #1474), has now almost 1,000 of four-lane highways.

Paraná state, on the other hand, with a fleet almost three times as bigger, don't have a four-lane highway linking Londrina-Maringá axis (2 million people) to Curitiba-Ponta Grossa-Paranaguá's port (almost 4 million people).

Bizarre.

Still on the investment policy:

Maringá-Umuarama (PR-323; 164 km)

Maringá Metro Area --- 739,082 inh. --- 305,489 cars
Cianorte -------------- 71,855 inh. ---- 27,868 cars
Cruzeiro do Oeste ----- 20,446 inh. ----- 6,394 cars
Umuarama ------------- 102,184 inh. ---- 40,418 cars

Rio Verde-Jataí (BR-060; 90 km)

Rio Verde ------------ 185,465 inh. ---- 55,465 cars
Jataí ----------------- 89,902 inh. ---- 30,552 cars

PR-323 is a two-lane road; BR-060 is about to become a four-lane one.

From my experience, people from Jataí never go to Rio Verde (and the other way around). For instance, there's a forumer from Jataí who's never been on Rio Verde in his entire life. They're very self-absorbed cities. On the other hand, people from Umuarama, and specially from Cianorte, usually go to Maringá every weekend. You can draw your own conclusions.
