The new headquarters of BBVA, one of the biggest banks in the world, have been designed by Herzog&de Meuron.
The building is organizated in three floors with many streets and gardens breaking the prism and a big circular square-garden in one of the borders crowned with a circular skyscraper (22 floors and +-100_120m).
We could consider it to be a moon, in contraposition with the sun which is being built as a convention center

La nueva sede es un proyecto con una alfombra, una plaza y un edificio en altura con forma de disco, que refuerza la singularidad del proyecto y su carácter emblemático, según la descripción del estudio Herzog & de Meuron (ver nota anexa).

La nueva Sede Corporativa de BBVA, que tendrá una edificabilidad de 100.000 metros cuadrados sobre rasante, estará operativa a partir de 2011, cuando empezará a ser ocupada por los colaboradores del Banco en Madrid, hasta un total de 6.500 personas.

Más allá de la singularidad estética y arquitectónica, la nueva Sede Corporativa de BBVA en Madrid tiene dos elementos claves que son diferenciales: su clara apuesta por el medio ambiente y la sostenibilidad, por un lado, y la creación de un espacio accesible y amigable, con un uso intensivo de las tecnologías y las comunicaciones, para facilitar el desarrollo personal y profesional de los colaboradores de BBVA.

Respecto al medio ambiente, la sede de BBVA tendrá el certificado LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), lo que supone implicaciones muy importantes en materia de ecoeficiencia.

Así, el proyecto contempla ahorros del 30% en el uso de la energía, del 35% en el efecto invernadero, del 30 al 50% en la utilización de agua y del 70% en el tratamiento de los residuos.

Este compromiso con el medio ambiente se enmarca dentro del Plan Global de Ecoeficiencia del Grupo, presentado hace unas semanas, cuyo objetivo principal es una reducción de emisiones de CO2 del 20% hasta el año 2012.

En segundo lugar, la nueva sede es una palanca fundamental para incorporar el cambio cultural hacia nuevas formas de trabajo, con mayor flexibilidad y un ambiente más colaborativo.

El objetivo es mejorar la calidad de vida de los colaboradores de BBVA, tanto desde el punto de vista profesional como personal, a través de una sede accesible (transporte público/parking privado), amigable (horizontal, luz natural, zonas verdes y de servicios) y eficaz (tecnología, entorno colaborativo, flexibilidad…).

Por último, la nueva sede es un proyecto de calidad emblemático para Madrid, que va a potenciar el dinamismo de la zona Norte de la capital y que a través de un proyecto innovador y sostenible va a representar un icono en la ciudad.[/

Wow, this is a really nice design! Very good. And far away from CTB so they don't take away the attention from each other. Madrid is awesome!

In the zone will be the Adequa complex in the Adequa tower (100m) and the CICCM (125m), and other complex with 7 towers between 75m and 100m. The Centro Foresta (BBVA Headquarters) will be 107m high, not 100m!

The new headquarters look like either a circle or an oval. It looks mostly like an oval to me.

This render of "operacion chamartin", (probable render of the new financial area) which recently got approved after 15 years in hold. Shows BBV headquarters position within the city and it will be 107m tall. You can also see the cheese with the four tower which is U/C with 120m, I believe.

Well plans got changed, they are going to to use some of the existing buildings that were already in the site. This is the new plan, i prefer the old project base better but is still ok. An here are a couple of pics to show that the demo started. If anyone is wondering those office buildings were in counstruction when the bank decided to buy the property.
