If they select Downtown, I think the Mayor just may do a little lobbying for the merger.
Sound logic, but the Mayor is principally interested in (a) retaining the company (b) a development coup and (c) making sure the Harbor Point TIF has the dough to back it up and not blow up on her when she's running for re-election.

Again, not debating here whether the TIF is a good idea. It's been approved and that has set the stage for what's about to happen.

Constellation/Exelon's decision is made. Harbor Point is the sort of business "environment" they want to be in since they're competing (at certain levels of their business) for the same type of employee as MorganStanley and Legg. Official announcement of their decision will hit the news shortly after the merger is approved. Subsequent development deals (hotels, apts., retail) for Harbor Point will likely follow.

SRB's first 100 days (as an elected mayor) will be busy, busy, busy.

Constellation Exelon Office Space

This is just wishful thinking but does anyone think they can get the 400,000 sq ft of office space by builing their HQ above the 4 Seasons? Or, wouldn't it be great if the city could offer to move some companies from one tower into other towers thus giving Constellation Exelon their own tower in the CBD? Just my wishful Friday rant. Have a good weekend!

As someone else observed, they need big floor plates to accommodate their trading floor.

Which is another reason they're heading to Harbor Point. Lots of design flexibility.

Downtown still has a lot of key businesses.

Was standing at the HP amphitheater the other day listening to A Merry Tuba Christmas and could see, running clockwise on the surrounding buildings, the logos for PNC, BOA, TransAmerica, M&T, SunTrust, and BB&T. Not sure why T. Rowe doesn't flag it's building, but it was right on the middle of all of them.

Downtown is holding its own and, because it has a lot of room for growth, will be the destination of choice over the long term. As it adds more residential and retail, it will come to be seen as Harbor East/Harbor Point on steroids, with exponentially more entertainment and transportation options.

More to the point, in time "downtown" will be regarded as encompassing everything from MLK to Central Avenue, from Penn Station to the harbor.

so, just for confirmation, nothing's been confirmed in terms of the decision of the location, correct?

i'm with ya' on this, jamie. All of your points on why this 400,000 s.f. should be in harbor point seems very valid. Just want to be sure...

Nothing's been in the papers, but it's the worst-kept secret in Fells Point. The only way it won't happen is if the merger somehow doesn't come to pass.

I hope the merger doesn't happen. Right before they announced it, Constellation backed out of leasing an additional 200,000 square feet in the Chandler building.

Anthropologie unveils design Article in the Sun

http://www.baltimoresun.com/business...,4224261.story

Quote on the Planning members reactions...

"Some members were also concerned about the use of vertical wooden panels in a city that struggles with vacant and boarded-up houses."

Seriously? I seriously doubt someone will look at the front of the very expensive Anthropologie in the extremely expensive Four Seasons Building in upscale Harbor East and think..."Man, that reminds me that Baltimore has a bunch of boarded up homes".

Yeah really. Idiots. Are these the same people who decide whether we get a 25 story or 60 story tower?

I wish we had an arena.

We could then easily get the Hornets. A team apparently no one else wants.

Let's go Hackerman!

Yeah I couldn't help but LOL when I read that. It'd be one thing if Anthopologie was opening in the middle of a desolate abandoned block in east/west baltimore with this design, but HE? get real. That's beyond rediculous

Seriously! When i woke up this morning, I read from a friend of mine(a bartender at Club Charles) who posted on facebook that there were 3 shootings in Charles North last night in front of Club Envy, and if that wasn't enough, a man was shot in the head in the middle of charles village on 29th and Calvert (one blk from my house).

How is the mindset in Charles Village these days? Such a beautiful neighborhood but too many bad headlines lately!

I guess the improvement of Remington, Station North, Barclay and Waverly will only help!

The scary thing is that these are our panel members thinking this way. Just when I thought there wasn't any way someone's thinking could get any worse, this comment comes along. It's really a shame.

Yea, if we can land an NBA or NHL team that could push this project forward. That certainly strengthen the arguement to build the arena.

I'm surprised Under Armour hasn't posted any pictures yet with what their plans consist of.

Message Boards need that Thumps up button. I would hit that with this comment.

I just hope he stays alive long enough for the State to finish their Study! Seems now he just wants to build it to put a lasting stamp on this city, and hope they convention happens. If your legacy was a new arena and possibly an NBA team.... that is pretty good!
