This photo above seems a bit posed to show the new trolleys and 'good life'. Who made it?

I'm not sure - I don't think there are tours going on till the summer, and it is lined up well so I suspect a government shot (though of course, technically everyone and everything in North Korea works for the government).

While it may be posed to some extent, it is well recorded that over recent years the amount of traffic in Pyongyang has rapidly increased. There is an older trolleybus in the photo too, so I doubt it's an outright 'propaganda' shot.

EDIT - actually no, it was taken by a tourist.

Credit where it's due, they have done a great job on the facade.

LOOKS like a world class structure. It is actually an old, weathered, poorly built concrete mountain with a nice glass facade. 3000 room hotel, or any structure of this size would be busteling with semi trucks and workers if they were finishing the inside. Maybe they can work on getting the inside done over the next 25 years. 50 years to complete this would be pretty quick for a country like NK, but still ten times longer than most other countries on the planet.

What about the old rumours that it was structurally unsound?

By the way, the next troll to put a rude tag on this thread automatically gets an infraction. May be invisible to you as to who posts them,
but it is not invisible to moderators.

I would love to visit North Korea in April next year when I suppose the building will be opened. That and Kim Il-Sungs 100th birthday will make that memorable.

Old rumors from people who visited many years ago. I would have said the same if the pictures of crooked outer walls were what they saw on the inside too. BUT if there is so much concrete inside that the building is its' own redundancy, and Orascom went in and added bracing, then who really knows. I am sure any bad things that have been found and fixed will be kept secret as long as the tower stands.

From Wiki:
Features that Orascom has installed include exterior glass panels and telecommunications antennas. It is unclear to what extent Orascom plans to complete the building. In the late 1990s, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea inspected the building and concluded that the structure was irreparable. Questions have been raised regarding the quality of the building's concrete and the alignment of its elevator shafts, which some sources say are "crooked". In 2008, Orascom's resident project manager stated that, at a minimum, their goal was to make the facade more attractive. In 2009, Orascom's chief operating officer Khaled Bichara noted that, despite the reported structural problems of the building, interior work will be performed, and that a revolving restaurant will be located at the top of the building.

Is that also when the new leader of NKorea takes power which is Kim Jong-Un?

Because communism does not exist, it is an ideal does not work because it ignores the fact that people are individuals.

Anyway, I believe that political discussions are not allowed here.

Well, yes. This is not a political thread. You mention it but you practice politics in here in the very same post. I don't disagree with you though.
This thread proves the following Aristotle's phrase: Man is by nature a political animal.
Politics is pretty much connected to everything. The building process is absolutely connected to the political situation in NK. You can't avoid politics either you practice it or not. I hope i won't get an infraction PM

I would just have loved to this tower to get a flashy red cladding , to symbolize comunism of the regime , that would have been unique.

Even in its previous dilapidated state, I love this tower.

I think it looks amazing now.

The concrete structure was done pretty swiftly, not counting 20 years of lack of funding
