That's laughable. You only prove that you aren't very bright. Nuclear deterrence is what normal people do. However, you can't apply logic when talking about a sociopath like Kim Jong Ill. In my opinion it is very well possible that he, since being old now, will want to end his life with one big firework that will forever put him into history books. Never undrestimate the ego of a madman.

I give you an example, al-quaeeda had a very good position in Afghanistan before 9/11. After 9/11 their country got invaded and their belowed taliban government has fallen. They lost a lot by doing 9/11, but they still did it. If there wouldn't be for 9/11 taliban would still rule Afghanistan. As I said before, never underestimate the ego of a madman.

Sorry for venturing off topic.
European chancellor,
Where on earth did you get these facts from?
A census from the 1890s stated that around 30,000 native Americans were killed in the Indian wars. Originally there was believed to be around 7 million native Americans at the time of columbus's first encounter. And over hundreds of years, thousands may have died by sickness, or killed in battle. But the reason the population dwindled so low was because of their integration with the europeans.
So about 300 years-maybe 100,000 people
4 years-11 million

Really no comparison

Oh, well that is a whole freaking different story. the Spanish were much more forceful to the indigenous people of Mexico and south america.
I'm not sure about the Portuguese though, im not very well learned on imperial Portugal.

I will never deny that the north American part of the story was also shameful. (trail of tears, wounded knee massacre etc.) it was a pathetic, quick stab at trying to civilize the natives with excessive brute force in my opinion. even though the majority of my ancestors were in Europe at the time.

What's really bad is that I truthfully would believe that Kim Jong Il would make that big of a mistake if he drew a map.

Ryugyong Hotel Exterior Completed

July 22, 2011

It only took 20 years or so, but the exterior of the massive North Korean Ryugyong Hotel has been completed. The hotel, which is pyramidal in form with walls that slope at a 75-degree angle, has long been lampooned as brute and permanent evidence of the totalitarian government’s deficiencies. At 330 meters (1,100 feet) tall, the “phantom pyramid” stood over a decade and a half unfinished, without windows or interior walls, looming ominously over the North Korean capital of Pyongyang. Several economic factors, not the least of which was the fall of the Soviet Union, disrupted construction, which has ceased until 2008, when Egyptian conglomerate Orascom Group (creepy website, right?) invested $400 million dollars to restart the project.

With its surfaces now completed, the hotel has taken on a completely different aesthetic, shirking its brutalist frame for a glossy vision of a jet-age mecca, with all the shallow optimism of ’80s technocratic utopias. As we mentioned before, it’s funny, if not embarrassing how much the hotel resembles Renzo Piano’s new Shard in London. The hotel is scheduled for completion in 2012 to coincide with the anniversary of the birth of North Korea’s “eternal president” Kim Il-Sung, but it is readily acknowledged that construction may continue beyond that point. The hotel will have 3,o00 rooms and at least 5 revolving restaurants.

---
Funny how they missed the fact that the exterior of the base remains unfinished...
