I like the big glass facade on it, better then how it was under construction.

New buildings have been built near the hotel since 2008, I also see a lot of new paint.

At this point we need to see the inside. Is this just a showcase or is this a real architecture?

I think the Great Pyramid was built quicker than this thing. How many rice rations were given up for this crap? Again people liking size versus quality of architecture. Atleast the average North Korean will be able to experience this masterpiece first hand.

Good luck with that... it's hard enough to find interior pics of any building in NK.

I kinda doubt they'll be doing much with the interior anyway. It's probably not safe anyway, with the concrete having been exposed to the elements for almost 20 years, and of very poor quality in the first place.

Cladding looks very nice, building shape not bad too. But l think this building is showcase just to show the world that communist dictatorship can do something too.

to all joking stupidly about rice rations, just get that Ryugyong is currently TALLEST building in both Koreas
and it was designed at the 80's and was 5th by height in the world at that time

...and what had to be "given up" is more or less irrelevant anyway. How many people in the US could be brought out of poverty if it wasn't for the trillions spent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Wow second picture of post 2873, I thought they don't have much electricity during the night, I guess the night scene isn't that bad when there are no blackouts.

I actually like this building in a way, it's like a 80's sci-fi type of interpretation of what 2011 would look like.

I like it! Even though this building never come to use. Only reason they finished this building was beacuse some big ceremony in the country. Think it was Kim Jong Ils or the countrys 70 or 80s birthday this year. Something like that.
