I can't imagine North Korea in 20 years.

Kim Jong Un is imposing so many changes to the county I hope it's for the better. He's trying to get stronger trade with China, and this could ultimately turn this city around into a metropolis! This tower would be the center of it all =]

Great video. It brings up a great question. If we can see Pyongyang in such detail, why can't we get close ups of the Ryugyong Hotel on a regular basis? I know the inside won't be seen, but more pictures of the base would be great.

Is this video shot from a tourist bus?

Give it a go. Hire a car. Go where you like. Talk to the people. Good luck.

So people use public transport intensively But I am shocked somehow: no single bicycle nor moped was seen. Very different to typical far-east pictures.

I'm surprised too, I thought we'd see more bicycles there, but I guess it's too "individualism" for people to have their own means of transportation.

I hope that once this building is completed, the owners will change the name to something more attractive.

Owners? No one 'owns' anything there. It's all community property.

If you are so desperate to sputter venom at North Korea, well, I'm sure that there are other forums out there.
So please give this one a break... I hope the mods will delete your comment asap...
In fact, Ryugyong looks very much like this famous San Fran skyscraper, only slightly less kitschy

Whatever. You missed the point. `

Maybe 'Willow Tower', or even the more mysterious sounding 'Tower 105.' Anything other than 'Ryugyong Hotel' because that name brings back the image of the concrete skeleton, it won't be a pure hotel, and it's just an ugly name.

Note that construction of the Washington Monument was halted for over 20 years. It was just a stump for a long time... But we got over it. ;-)
