How do you know what is the hotel occupancy rate in the country, or how many hotels they have? Heck, where do you come from with the travesty of 3000 - 6000 rooms that this hotel would add? How can anyone takes you seriously if you ''caclulate'' that's the number of rooms?

FYI there are around 1500 hotel rooms in the entire buildind, but ONLY 150 of them will open now.

@ AltinD no need to be so rude to a new forumer

And yes, now we're fully sure that the building will hold 150 rooms (at least for now)
Later, maybe office space, more hotel rooms, and possibly residential space will be built inside, depending on how much investment in the structure the government there allows.

These are old sources. 2012 sources indicate 150 rooms as AltinD said.

I remember to read recently that it contained 1500 (we're talking about total number of rooms within the structure). Even if I heard/read it wrong, still how casn a "source" say 3000 - 6000 rooms? There're obviously talking out of their behind.

PS: Judging by the size of the tower, I wouldn't be so sure even of the 3000 number

People shouldn't believe that "sources" are necessarily telling the truth. Nobody but Orascom, Kempinski, and the government there know anything about how many rooms there will be.

There are 105 level, if only 80 of those level are for hotels, it needs about 40rooms in each floor, or about 13 rooms in each wing, assume corridor in the middle, average 6-7 rooms in each side.

The building get smaller as we move up, so half way up is a good place to judge, do you think half way up, we can fit 6-7 rooms on each side of each wing.

Good, now we can discuss the horrendous ugliness of this tower without all the nonsense. Because it still is a monstrosity of a tower, one of the worst supertall designs ever.

It would be fairly easy for someone (with spare time) to count the number of window openings on an old 'pre-cladding' photo, and assume one hole for one room. Multiply the one counted side times 3. That would be the MAX, before any layout changes.

One hole per room? Come on, two at least.

You think? I guess that's possible. Vegas hotels like Treasure Island and Bellagio have 4 rooms per 'window', but before cladding it would have been four distinct openings.

I use the Bellagio for comparison because it has 46 rooms on each side of a level and I count about 45 openings on the lower levels of the Ryugyong. If the rooms are approximately the same width, then either the hotels are about the same at the base, or the Ryugyong is double the width of Bellagio.

Actually, this building has a pretty small ceiling height, so you could be right about one window rooms. Either way, the windows are pretty large, so they should let in enough sunlight.

I talked about the hotel and its owners. That's on-topic. This hotel is owned by the North Korean government.
