What's the purpose of this building? I mean yes it's a hotel but who is going to stay in it? How many rooms it will have? I don't think they will ever have a full occupancy of the hotel, this is more a government statement than an actual investment.

Foreign investors. Has been talked about before.

If the building is structurally sound then why is the hoarding still at the top after all this time? The crane has not been touched by the looks of things...
Scaffolding is a standard safety measure in construction.

What - scaffolding that has been there for 20 years? Right. What foreign tourists!? You say that like they have mass tourism or something. They don't allow that. Are you seriously, with a straight face, suggesting this building (or shell more accurately) is going to be stuffed with tourists? Come on.

As for foreign investors (chuckle, it's a Capitalist mecca now is it?) please remind me as I am not going back over this whole thread to find out. Though I will look elsewhere.

I will believe that if I ever see it.

As for how it looks - it's a big statement but im suspicious as to whether it will be finished internally.

But all they are doing is putting on a facade....There is nothing about them finishing it internally.

Actually there was a press release about that a while ago. No idea where to find the link, but it may be somewhere in the old Ryugyong Hotel thread.

Im not searching all through that thread for a press release. I have been looking on line and cannot find anything on finishing the building internally. All I can see is about the facade. And that's it. If someone finds it please post.

That's where the work is done. The business itself is done in Pyongyang.

I heard that the government hates people taking pictures of the tower while it's at an incomplete stage somewhere once. So it might take sometime till we get any updates.
