Lucky you, that your opinion is not the opinion of everyone. I like this hotel very much and think that would be one of the most impressive and beautiful ones in the world.

indeed this hotel design has one very distinctive character. Very few hotels or buildings in the past 50 years has got a character and history behind it which reflects on its people, government and environment, be it to be of good or bad nature, its still a soul of the building which is absent in most buildings. A few would be namely, Burj Al Arab, jin mao and taipei 101

Because even that think it's ugly. It's so ugly that they use photoshop in order to delete it from North-Korean postcards.
It's just a MASSIVE building which dominates the skyline of Pyongyang.

Sheesh, it's like talking to a child. Can't you use Wikipedia before making posts?
you sir, obviously do not know how to answer questions. firstly, all you said in response to someone's (everyone's) questions about the structural soundness of the building is, "Scaffolding is a standard safety measure in construction." and "And the scaffolding has been there for such a long time because the building was on hold." where in those two statements proves the building is structurally sound? if you think scaffolding 20 years old is safe then please, for everyone's sake, do NOT get into construction.

second of all. when someone made the statement that north korea has no tourists, your response was, "Yes, North Korea has a viable tourist industry." uhhh okay. WHO??? you didn't answer the question! you just made the direct counterargument! you say its like talking to a child but lets just examine the self for a moment. your arguments to me sound like a "yes huh, uh-uh, yes huh, uh-uh" sort of childish antic. you have given no reason for anybody to believe that you have any idea what you are talking about.

thirdly. WIKIPEDIA!!! okay yes, i love wikipedia just as much as the next guy. but can you please tell me when wikipedia became the standard, appropriate, accurate, or satisfactory source for factual information. dude, its a free encyclopedia that anyone can alter. i seriously cant believe you use wikiepdia as your source for the "obvious" arguments you have put forth.

post again when you have some real information.

but anyway. about the building. i find it interesting that people have posited the idea that the building will have no use at all, rather its receiving an exterior facelift. i had not thought of that. i think this is a great possibility. maybe they are thinking non-photoshopped postcards with a cool building will sell better.

of course its just a facade! i have friends who have been to Pyongyang and the hotels they have now are empty and usually just one or two floors are in use. why would they need this huge one? I go with the non photoshoped postcards will look better ide.

but still quite a cool building.

Yeah. I'm hoping North Korea will opens its doors to outside world once the hotel open its doors. That will be good for the economy and its people. Even if they just open their doors to the countries they trust such as China and Russia (and perhaps South Korea?). I know both North and South is still in war but c'mon, Cold War is over.

North Korea is the reason why the western countries thinks that Northeast Asia is still not a comfortable zone to go to. But once the country opens its doors, then everyone will appreciate it. Other countries are doing it now such as Vietnam and Cambodia and they are making they region, which is Southeast Asia region, a more comfortable place to live with. There is still Burma that gives us problems. I am hoping everyone else will copy so that we can have a better developed world and get more supertalls.

I really love the design of this tower. Though the morality of North Korea constructing massive monuments is not something I approve of, on a strictly architectural level, they do have a pretty good style to their monuments and landmarks.

WOW!! Now I'm waiting for people that call this building "the ugliest in the world". It already looks much, much better than most of Las Vegas' casinos.

By the look of the most recent photos taken of the hotel's construction, I cna say this hotel's facade is looking more professional everyday.

could this dethrone Bank Of China Tower as the most cool/futuristic building?

With the cladding it looks like a futuristic builing. Like a spaceship landed in the gray old commie block city
