It's not complicated at all. Without the NK dictatorship, there's no need for US military presence in South Korea.

In 2014 China and South Korea signed a free trade agreement. There's no problem between SK and China. The problem is the NK dictatorship.

Therefore: China and SK can only become friendly direct neighbors when the US military leaves. But the US will never give up their only presence on the Asian mainland and they can always justify their massive military bases in Asia because of a "dangerous" NK. So the US need NK too, for justification of their bases.

Its very complicated unfortunately...

Exactly right.

It's not the US military presence in South Korea that's the problem. It's the vicious inhuman dictatorship in NK that is the problem.

Every thinking person should bear witness to the pain and suffering of the NK people as an example of what a police state is capable of doing to its people.

I can hardly think of a more architectural design than this tower's. It'a a pity it had sucked all the last pennies from the poor people of N.Korea.

Three rooms beneath an aircraft warning light can be seen in the video, illuminated across two different floors near the very top of the 105-floor building. The lights suggest a stable electricity connection exists to the very highest point of the building.

A regular visitor to North Korea told NK Pro on Monday that a private jet belonging to Orascom, which visited Pyongyang this week, likely carrying Egyptian CEO Naguib Sawiris, might have been there to discuss the future of the building.

“Apparently (he’s there) for a visit to the Ryugyong to see about working on that again,” the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity due the sensitivity of speaking to media.

From the linked article: "Three rooms beneath an aircraft warning light can be seen in the video, illuminated across two different floors near the very top of the 105-floor building. The lights suggest a stable electricity connection exists to the very highest point of the building."

It suggests nothing of the kind. At best someone hauled a small generator up there, or dropped a cable down an elevator shaft, or semi-seriously, it's lit by oil lamps that some poor serf has to replenish daily from a tank on the ground floor.

That "hotel" will never open. The ones they have are barely functioning. Shane Smith at Vice made a doco that shows the silliness and bankruptcy of the North Korea tourism racket:

Have they at least buried the dead Kim family members in the basement of this thing? Might as well put this pyramid to some good use. Future archeologists would be grateful.

Lol what clickbait. Even I wouldn't say it was open or about to open. At best I'd say they are just starting to work on the interior.

They should allow a few companies to finish building it and operate it. That way, it wont use up the entire GDP.

Or they could strap on a few neon lights, like they did to a few other buildings in Pyongyang, and make it into a giant casino/hotel for Chinese tourists, to compete with Macau.

Do you think there will be many vodka-drunk matryoshkas, each wearing a red-starred ushanka to go there and sing "Katyusha" while playing a balalaika?

Only if they allow Russian tourists to gamble, which they should. If they make it a casino, they should open it up to most countries citizens.

I hope there is a North Korean spy on this forum, s/he should forward my idea to the Great Leader. (But give me at least a little credit, even if its 0.01% of all casino revenue.)

Due to severe international sanctions on financial transactions and an unpredictable government its unfortunately impossible/very risky for any foreign firm to invest into NK.
As you guys know, the Kempinski hotel corporation wanted to invest but canceled out of very logical reasons:

Quote:
“It can be said that the project would have been very risky for a number of reasons: uncertain market demand, political risk, contract risk, exchange rate risk, logistics, infrastructure, insurance risk, etc. Given this investment climate, it is unlikely that just one straw broke the camel’s back”, Melvin told NK NEWS.
source: http://www.nknews.org/2013/03/kempin...n-north-korea/

Even Orascom (who financed the cladding of the tower) got screwed over by the NK government, as they lost control over Koryolink. (Article here: http://www.northkoreatech.org/2015/1...ver-koryolink/)

Before any foreign/western investment will be possible, the dictator has to finally decrease the influence of the military and their aggressive policies and put the party back in power (as it was before the horrible Kim Jeong Il time, who introduced the military-first policy). Kim Jeong Un is trying to kill off some of the military hardliners in order to enable a careful economic opening (which the military doesn't want), but it will still take a long time..
