So it is only on one side of the tower.

It's ok, that is the way most American homes are built. They put the nice facade only on the front.

If entrance is possible (I wouldn't attempt it myself) to the contruction site, it seems like someone could pose as a worker and take some inside shots! That should clear up a lot of myths!

I used adjacent vertical walls as controls to eliminate lens distortion as the cause of this. I'm not saying it's a safety issue, but it's most definitely an indicator of shoddy workmanship.

I'm glad this discussion made me look back through the thread. There are good close up pictures!

Oh ok. I could just barely make it out by looking at the Ray Cunningham one.

this is not a pyramid if you count the adjacent diagonal shapes attached to it.

It was this picture and a few others that in the past left me with the belief that the concrete is really shitty - especially where the balconies are (the concrete slabs). As time progressed, a flame war ensued and then we all got the surprise of our lives with new pics showing repairs to the concrete, and fresh glass cladding going up. All I can say is that it sure looks nice with the glass on there, and the top cladded. Im no structural engineer, but I find myself very curious when it comes to the things that needed to be done to repair the concrete.. in that pic you can see the concrete not completely lined up on the angled outside wall, so it makes me wonder what the elevator and utility shafts and stairwells look like? I read online years ago that somebody claimed the elevator shafts are slightly crooked - whether its bullshit or not, nobody here is really ever going to know... but all in all, this is some pretty pretty interesting shit!

I wish we had more info - I would love to know what they are going to do with the interior of this massive structure. Im beginning to think that they will have only the bottom and the top floors occupied unless the tourism laws in NK change any time soon though.

Whatever the outcome.. this building looks nicer now already than it did when it was just raw cement taking a beating from the environment.

If it is a hotel however.. I wouldn't mind going to North Korea on my EU passport (I can do that right?). I'd stay and see what it's like. However, this building belongs in Vegas. It can compete with the Stratosphere Tower.

Can't wait to see this one finished. Looks amazing already. On pair with all these shiny towers currently constructed in Dubai and Shanghai.
