Caddy93 maybe it's good to read the topic a bit first, the things you say have been discussed many times. The keywords in you post are "I've Heard", "probably", "maybe" and "speculation".
All the things you(and other people) say in your post about this building, are based on and situated around these keywords.

And, so? We get a mere trickle of information out of North Korea because they *control information.* They don't let any get in and they don't let any get out, although that ability of theirs is not absolute and of late has become even more lax because even their government is poor and simply doesn't have the ability anymore to control all incoming and outgoing info. At this point in time, it is utterly impossible for anyone to know for sure exactly what the North Korean government plans to do with this building because they just aren't going to release that information. Even if you traveled to North Korea you wouldn't be able to find out; it's not like you can just go up to a member of their government and ask them what's going on. You'll be shot for even getting near a member of their government. You can't even veer that far off because when you go to Pyongyang you have strict guidelines where you can and can't go.

In short, no one outside of the North Korean government knows exactly what's going on with this building, and we won't know until and unless their current government collapses (a mere matter of time) and is replaced by one that freely publicizes information.

Except that you can't deny what I'm saying because you know you don't know exactly what they're doing with this building and you know there's only one reason why you don't know.

Have you ever noticed how in a normal country, like oh say France, you hear all the details about a skyscraper project through all the wide array of media sources in the country? Whereas here we know only the bare minimum of information that we can glean from one or two news articles and a handful of pictures? Gee, I wonder if it has anything to do with North Korea BEING COMMUNIST.

Krattle cracks me up ... he seems to want freedom and hate democracy at the same time XD oh and by the way , if i remember correctly , the mods have said earlier that this thread is pretty much an exception from the no politics rule , so i dont think the mods care about this tread anymore....

but i agree lets try to stay on topic

am i the only one who wonder what lived in there whan it was " ghost like " ? i mean such a HUGE empty structure could easilly attract some fishy people to live there ... secretly hidden in that huge thing ....

Let's go off topic again , Kim Jong il is the only fat person in the country eating sushi and Mcdonald's almost everyday.

I was penalized for making a political statement on this thread.

Architecturally, its existence is out of context with its environment and up till recently was a gigantic unfinished construction site, awaiting funds and materials for completion

what was meant to be a show of strength instead became a delayed project.

This has financially come at quite a cost to the citizens, and the part that's destined to be a hotel will be a massively unoccupied hotel, much like most other Pyongyang hotels

It's been under construction since 1987.

2 decades overdue?

I don't know I like it when this building look old as hell. When I first saw it I was like, what the hell is that? how old is that building. Then I found out it was started in the 80's, I was like never mind. But it was one of those buildings everybody talk about, maybe a bit more then they should have.

No thanks, I hope this building finishes by the summer of this year. The exterior is almost done anyways.

The photo on the left is a real photo of the Ryugyong under construction. The official artist's impression of the completed building has been posted before on this thread.
