Guru Gopinath National Dance Museum will have 4D theatre

The Guru Gopinath National Dance Museum at Vattiyoorkavu will soon be a reality, fully equipped with a 4D theatre with physical effects intended to showcase performance of various Indian and world dance forms.

The objective of the first of its kind dance museum is to become a global centre of dance through “dance for knowledge, research and entertainment”.

The national dance museum is named after Guru Gopinath, the introducer of Kerala Natanam, and will have galleries, amphi theatre, research wing and digital library. It aims to exhibit archival materials and offer hands-on experience to create a complex picture of dance, official documentation said.

In order to disseminate information about the dance museum, Guru Gopinath Natanagramam has organised a Museum Expo from November 18 to 27, at Kanakakunnu. The Expo, which was inaugurated by Transport Minister V.S. Sivakumar, exhibits photographic documentation of various classical and folk dance forms of India and the world.

The Natanagramam is organising a Dance Fest from November 23 to 27 which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The festival will feature dance performances including Kerala Natanam, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Ottamthullal and Irula Nritham.

British trade office likely to come up in capital

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The United Kingdom wants to build a strong commercial relationship with Kerala and is considering establishing the British trade office here, according to a source in the chief minister's office.

"The city is still sore about losing the British Council Library. If The British trade office were to find its way into Kerala, it would certainly give an impetus not only to the commerce of the place but also open doors to universities in the UK. The British council will find it easier to work with organisations within Kerala as the trade office will be able to facilitate these projects," said the source.

Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark, said setting up a trade office would take the ties between Technopark and the UK to a new level. Mike Nithavrianakis, British deputy high commissioner, recently visited Technopark where several top-billed companies either cater for clients from the UK or have their headquarters there, and has realized the growth potential of a bilateral relationship first hand.

Mike understands the potential of IT sector in Kerala. He has visited Technopark several times before, besides spending hours interacting with company heads. He recently inaugurated a firm called Testhouse (specialising in software testing and QA service provider) at the IT park. If you take the

Read long back that there is a plan for new alignment for NH47 (4 lane) from kazhakootam to Kanyakumari thru kovalam, however no news or any construction happening on the same. Is it ever going to happen or dropped.

Last day my friends in office came to TVM. Took them to many places..all liked Tvm very much I noticed there are frequent AC buses to n fro kovalam..with enuf crowd. saw lots of luxury cars near kowdiar, n other places some who were visiting tvm after years..commented "wat a change". Those of us who see Tvm often may not feel that much change. but there is unbelievable change everywhere.
