There is no problem with having a discussion on the discussion pages, to keep the threads free for pic postings and related comments.I feel that if the comments on the pics are confined to the technical and progress aspects , the long drawn out discussions can be conducted within the discussion thread.A menu of topics for the threads affected , can divert the discussions from this to the general discussion thread voluntarily.Or a note from the mod can be issued for effecting a diversion to the discussion thread. This is just a suggestion from me.

Last month, we had gone for a trip to a hill station by name Ab'ha located at Southern part of KSA. Infact, we were touring to the different locations in and around this region by different cable car net works. The local people also use this network, to save time & money. I have many pictures in this regard, which shall soon be uploaded in Picasa very soon.

Throughout the trip, my mind was agigated with the thoughts about having this system in my home district. I have even noted down the address of the manufacturer. May be we can make a try, as these people usually develop the cable car network by BOT or BOLT. Even the fancy cable car system at the Malampuzha gardens operates on this basis.

Is the Trida ring road project coming under the CRIP or under the TRIDA independently? If my information is correct TRIDA has not undertaken any major road work in the city and any other project under Trida has overshot the timeframe. So there is really no meaning in depending on that road project to take care of an influx of vehicles connected with the National games that is scheduled to take place within the next 2 years.

It looks like a good idea to operate this sort of a service to the Ponmudi hills from the Kallar valley. It will be a awe inspiring sight to travel to the hill on a gondola to the hill top rivalling the hairpin bends of the kallar ponmudi road. There is no doubt about the commercial viability of the project if it gets under way.

This locations looks like it will be close to the GM showroom rather than Chackai Junction itself. Awesome project, great to see progress on it.

Stay Tuned for a Great 2009, folks!

TRIDA, as I understand, only acquires land and hands over to PWD for road construction. Please check below report:

=========================================
Addressing presspersons, Mr. Ajayakumar said the authority would begin land acquisition for the two ring roads in 2008-09.

Covering a length of 35.25 km, the outer ring road originates at Kazhakuttam and passes through Thundathilpoudikonam, Mannanthala, Peroorkada, Vattiyoorkavu, Peyad, Thachottukavu, Pottayil, Naruvamoodu, Punnamoodu and Peringamala to end at Vizhinjam.

Going by the previous experience of land aquisition by TRIDA for the CRIP, it remains to be seen when the required land will become available for this project. We can reasonably estimate the land aquisition to be completed within 2 years notwithstanding the normal legal battles associated with these proceedings. And atleast one year will be needed for the widening and upgrading of the carriageway to a 4 lane one from the present 2 lane system. It will be a not be a surprise to find the time for completion exceeding these estimates going by the speed of the CRIP .Ultimately it will fall on the present narrow stretch of road to handle the huge traffic volumes expected during the National games. We are already seeing the city roads straining under vehicular traffic during the frequent events happening in the city.If drastic steps are not taken now for the road project ,it will be like transfering a big headache from one person to another, during the Games thats just a few months from now.

Swimming pool: project report soon
Source: thehinduonline
Quote:
Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Sports M. Vijayakumar announced here on Thursday that a swimming pool with modern amenities would be constructed in the Kudappanakunnu panchayat.

Speaking after a visit to the site, he said the Kunnathukulam freshwater tank would be cleaned up and converted into the swimming pool.

“The government has sanctioned Rs.10 lakh for the project. It will be implemented with the support of the panchayat, Aquatic Club and Sports Council. The project report will be prepared in a week’s time”.

The Minister said the pond would be desilted in the first phase of the project.

“The construction of sidewalls, toilet and changing rooms will be taken up later”, he added.
Cheers!!!
