An industrial spur in Łódź to the former Scheibler's textile factory (the PRL name was Uniontex) - someone made an animation that shows it:

The spur was closed in 1990s together with the factory.

Photos of the last trains - the spur was last used by a touristic train in 2002: http://www.kolej.lodz.pl/dzial.php?dzial=lodzkm
2003 - the tracks are no longer driveable: http://www.kolej.lodz.pl/dzial.php?dzial=lodzkm2
2004 - things are getting even worse: http://www.kolej.lodz.pl/foto/lodzkm3/index.htm
2005 - no tracks at all: http://www.kolej.lodz.pl/dzial.php?dzial=lodzkm4

Until now, some of its parts were converted into a pavement for pedestrians.

It would be perfect to use this route for metropolitan railway... Maybe once in a future it will happen, but nowadays there is no chance.

The town did have a rail network, the line to Gosport opened in 1841 (6 years before any line to Portsmouth and was regularly used by Queen Victoria (There ere also passenger services to Stokes bay (closed 1936) and Lee on Solent) closed 1933 to passengers and 1937 to freight)Passenger services to Gosport ended in 1955 and the station closed with the ending of freight in 1969 when the southern end of the line closed The northern end of the line remained in service to serve the Fleetlands Naval facility until 1995. the trackbed is now a rapid busway and in 2010 the derelict Gosport Station (listed) was repaired an converted into offices and houses.
Funny how Gosport is only 215m away from Portsmouth.

That railway line still runs. Hourly Cambridge to Ipswich. Should really build more stops on it in places like Cherry Hinton and Fulbourn,

Heres a nearby line which is long gone, although some bridges under roads and over lodes still remain.
