Tiverton Road is at the junction where where Aldi is.

Turn left if your heading out of town on the Bristol Road, or right if you're heading down from the station - it's the 2nd right as you head down Bristol Road.

About 5 minutes up Tiverton Road on your right is the baths.

My dad was born in the house next door to Tiverton Baths - he lived there during the early stages of the Second World War until he and his brothers were evacuated to Hartlebury. He never saw his dad until he was 6! Some MSP history there lol.

Bit late for Engels but the Hyatt has a pool-only rate of £35 p/m - haven't been in myself but it looks a little pokey.

This is probably glaringly obvious but what does p/m stand for? I sincerely hope it isn't £35 per minute!

I've used it and there's a spa too. It's not massive but does have some quiet spells if you're doing laps.

Perry Beeches and Wyndley baths both have reasonable sized pools.

Has anyone used the new Tudor Grange swimming baths in Solihull?

I used to swim in the old 60's building as a kid but havent been to the new one, i think they may have rather replaced like in terms of facilities but the water slides may not have been repeated (shame)

I have been to the new Tudor Grange, the pool is reduced in size to 25m now, and there is no slides, but there is a snazzy diving pool with a floor that can be raised or lowered, I managed to get the lifeguard to show me it in action. The general facilities are much improved, however.

There's Halesowen baths, right next to the bus stop in and out of Brum, at least I think they're still open?

Castle Vale swimming pool is a very good swimming pool. Nice and quiet. Excellent for exercise. It's not the biggest but you get a wiggle on as no fatties clog up the lanes.

Erdington Baths has a decent Turkish Baths, the only one in the city.

POOL PICS MAKE A SPLASH
03-06-2009

The first images of Birmingham’s proposed new 50metre swimming pool have been revealed as a public consultation gets underway. But there's still no word about how it will be paid for.

A £58 million Aquatics and Leisure Centre is planned for land next to Nelson Primary School in St Vincent Street, Ladywood. It will incorporate an Olympic diving facility, a leisure pool and fitness suite, and a sports hall.

Councillor Martin Mullaney, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sports and Culture said: “One of our biggest challenges is to increase sports participation in Birmingham and this development forms a major element of our city-wide sports facilities strategy.

“There is currently no facility for swimming in the Ladywood constituency and this would resolve that issue while at the same time providing a world class facility for the whole of the city.

“It is important to stress this is not just about providing a facility for elite performers and attracting Olympic teams prior to 2012. We’re looking to provide the people of this city the top-class sports facilities they deserve.”

Plans will be on display to the public at Nelson Primary School located on King Edwards Road, between 4.00pm and 8.00 pm on Wednesday 3rd June and Friday 5th June and between 10.00am and 2.00pm on Saturday 6th June 2009.

Pretty pictures aside, the Council has again confirmed that no business case has yet been put forward for the scheme.
