Chris, you should check this neat visualization of the project:

Some aerial photos of Ülemiste intersection construction from this morning.

Järvevana road; Veerenni street is in the bottom right corner.

Here you can see the U/C tunnel.

You can see the tunnel in the upper part of the photo and the ramp for the viaduct in the lower part.

Aha, it's clearer to me now. I thought the flyover was for Tallinn - Tartu traffic, but it's for east-west traffic that follows the urban bypass.

Tere Rebasepoiss,

do you know any AADT figures from nineties and present figures ?
I spent two years in Tallinn and I cannot remember that kind of traffic. just a little bit surprised with what I can see on your pictures.

I guess current works also cause visible traffic jam.
By the way - construction works looking great. Waiting to see new street opened.

Unfortunately I don't have any figures from the nineties but Hasper posted some numbers from 2010 a while back.

Yes, the traffic numbers have definitely grown several fold since the nineties. Add in the road works and you get the traffic you see in those aerial photos.

I'll add some photos too,but from the other side of the Ülemiste road junction site - here's U/C viaduct at Tartu mnt. Sry for gloomy photos. It was raining today when I took those.

This should finally explain how the last missing piece of viaduct will be built.

Awesome. Had no idea that a short segment of Tallinn bypass is being upgraded.

A short stretch of 3+3 looks very well. Actually it seems, that stretch with 110 km/h speed limit is really a good qualitty and quite high standard road.

Apple Maps now shows the Parnu bypass open, though the satellite photos still show the construction.

It would be cool if the satellite photos were updated within 2 days

Dozens of imaging satellites would be needed to maintain that standard of service -- even if new road openings were a priority imaging target.

I don't think so much people will use that bypass, because road through city center takes much less time. There are so much traffic lights and no green wave, that making bypass route longer and boring to drive.

Center is free from heavy transport though.

The speed limit on some stretches of Pärnu bypass is 70 km/h, not like in city centre.
About traffic lights - yes, there is no "green wave", but route through city centre is also quite full of traffic lights.
Also, last year they opened Liivi road, which connects Papiniidu bridge with Riia highway, making distance shorter.
