New bridge on by-pass of Tartu was opened. It would be part of new junction connecting western by-pass with new eastern by-pass.

Väo intersection is delayed once again- Maanteamet found several risks with current design (too steep ramps- problem in winter) and they are now working on a new design. If everything goes as planned (hopefully) construction may start in 2014.

It may start in 2014 but probably later which means it most likely won't be finished till the end of 2016.

Sorry, but I don't know what stretch you are talking about, Mäo bypass perhaps?

If you mean the Aruvalla-Kose section then it's being reconstructed at the moment and will be finished in Autumn 2013.

If you're talking about the Kose-Mäo section, it's indefinitely on hold which means it's very unlikely that it'll get built in the next 10 years.

Aruvalla-Kose is a pretty big building site atm. Traffic is once directed to one lane, then another, then to the side road... (btw, i saw SEBE bus there which had left Tallinn more than 45min ago, so all these road works including Ülemiste, are really slowing traffic down )

An update on Ülemiste intersection construction, taken from the Estonian subforum, props to Valvejoodik.

The intersection between T11 and T15 was opened to traffic yesterday. Although the official deadline for this project was summer 2013, only minor works such as landscaping and some road markings are yet to be done.

Thanks!

BTW, according to some rumours, construction of Kurna intersection (same Tallinn ring road, but few kms east of Luige) could start this year. And that's because of problems with Väo intersection (Tallinn-Narva road), construction of which will most likely be delayed.

http://www.ap3.ee/?PublicationId=085...e-7bd1e3f19d22

"Majandus- ja kommunikatsiooniministeerium teeb valitsusele ettepaneku suunata Väo liiklussõlme ehituseks mõeldud raha Tallinna ringtee rekonstrueerimisse ja selle investeerimisega ei tohiks probleemi tekkida."

It's unbelievable how much that area has changed. Nice. But...1:40 - is that a friggin' roundabout?

Btw,is there any map showing how much of Tallinn ring road has been upgraded and how much still needs upgrading?

This is the only part that has been upgraded so I guess a map isn't necessary and pretty much everything needs upgrading, first Kurna intersection, then per haps Juuliku intersection, then Väo-Jüri section etc.

There are 2 roundabouts, both located on T-15 Tallinn-Rapla-Türi highway, one of them (closer to Rapla) is a friggin turbo-roundabout.

Tallinn ring road is 38 km long, section within Luige is about 2,5 kms (first 2+2 highway on T-11 compatible with I class road standards ).

To get an idea, how "long" the upgraded section is, I suggest you to go to http://tarktee.mnt.ee/ - from left menu "Liikluspiirangud joonena", and Luige construction site is also shown. Some drawings are available from http://www.mnt.ee/index.php?id=13527

Maanteeamet has long-term plans of widening entire Tallinn ring road and Tallinn-Paldiski highway (from Tallinn city border to Keila) to 2+2 lane I class roads. Luige is done already, next stop will likely be Kurna.

Last year, Saku-Kanama stretch on Tallinn ring road was repaved, and nothing about Juuliku, which is located on the same stretch. Instead, they put traffic lights to Jälgimäe... Doesn't it mean that construction of Juuliku intersection and Juuliku-Kanama is delayed? But... the plan shows that second carriageway will practically be built next to the current one, so they don't have to rebuilt it once again. Also, traffic lights on Luige intersection were installed not long time ago, and now they are gone ...

Well, at least a roundabout is much safer than what they did in Mäo, for example. That has proven to be a really dangerous intersection.

How many km of motorway are in Estonia?
In 2005 they had only 99 km. Today is the same?

Estonia has no motorways, that number is the length of dual carriageways which has grown by about 20km since 2005 and will increase by another 13km this Autumn.
